redzmonte, thanks for that great write up. I understand what you are saying, I work with PLC's (programmable logic controllers) in an industrial setting.
But I didn't do all that. It's been at the dealer and I just got it back this morning. They replaced the BCS and it seems like it works now. My ...

Re: Service Vehicle Soon
I haven't had time to work on it so I brought it back to the dealer, since I've paid them to diagnose and the problem still exist. When the shop connects to it and reads the codes from the DIC, it still shows P0243. Apparently they only have one tech that's educated or qualified to troubleshoot this ...

Re: Service Vehicle Soon
After the oil pump delimma, I drove it around a week and wanted to finally get that Service Vehicle Soon to dissappear. I brought it to the dealer to get them to fix it. They didn't but they cleared the history of codes dealing with a disconnected battery then came up with a P0243, S/C Boost ...

Re: Supercharger 101 class needed
Yep, vac leak at the "T" under the snout, changed out the tubing assembly with GM part, ouch!. But it is done right. Still have the SVS coming on in the DIC. I'll check out the BCS as said in the proceedure.

I don't know the difference and the applications of the different SC used on the Bonnevilles and years. I need a little education on the lingo.

Re: No Oil Pressure
Man, I should've thought of that...I guess I was trying to "do it right". But I'm sure that works great.
Overall, it was an easy job, just a little time consuming because of uncertainty and waiting for parts and getting the tools I needed and wanted anyway. I'm glad I bought my son his 2000 S10 4x4 ...

Re: No Oil Pressure
Tonight I removed the timming cover. Disassembled the pump and its parts. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary, but this was my first time on a 3.8 and not sure what to look for. It and the oil passage ways all were clean with no evidence of wear or metal shavings.

Re: No Oil Pressure
I removed the balancer/pulley bolt with my $95 3/4" Impact, no problem.
SFQ: Does the pulley seperate from the balancer?
I'm going to buy a puller. Chime back soon.

Re: No Oil Pressure
Thanks for the tip. I haven't tried to take it off yet. Been working on my back up vehicle which is primary now.
Hopefully can get to it over the next few days.

Re: No Oil Pressure
I removed the bolts that hold it on and it took a few hits with a heavy wrench to get it off. The gasket broke when the tube came off so I can't really say but I believe it was good. It's just a paper gasket.

Re: No Oil Pressure/ update
I moved the power steering pump and bracket out the way, took off the oil filter adapter and it was dry. I had left the oil filter on. It seemed like the pump wasn't sucking. The plunger was sticking out of the side of the front cover, it had spring to it. I didn't remove it.

Re: No Oil Pressure
Thanks,
I started to remove the oil filter adapter but couldn't get to the top bolt because the power steering pump was in the way. It was late so I quit for the night. I will continue with your suggestion.

Re: Hockey Puck Mount - Is it really a solid mount?
I like your mount, was thinking about doing something like that but went to the puck.
I'm using my version of the hockey puck and I love it compared to the stock mount which I was replacing about once a year driving normal(to me). I have two and a half pucks on top of the subframe. I cut one down on ...

My local Autozone has them for about $20. Thanks for the bolt size for the puller, I figured it was not normally found in the puller kits.
In the picture I do not see where a pickup tube would be??? I'm crossing my fingers that that is my problem.

Re: No Oil Pressure
Thanks, Now if I could only remove the crank pulley bolt. My 1/2" impact couldn't do it. What kind of puller to use for the pulley/balancer? 3 jaw type that grabs around the outside or the type where 3 bolts are screwed in the balancer?
