Re: I've FINALLY got a donor car for my drivetrain swap!

First, I've got to say that it's way easier than I thought especially if you have an entire donor car at your disposal.

Pulling the Bonneville's drivetrain consisted of the ENTIRE subframe, struts, spindles, battery cables rack and pinion....etc. Look at the picture and you can see how I removed ...

Re: I've FINALLY got a donor car for my drivetrain swap!

I got the hot rod engine in the maroon bonnneville this past weekend. With all the mods, I'm going to have to get a computer re-flash and a smaller supercharger pulley. The stock pulley is only allowing 3-4psi of boost. I have no idea what size pulley to buy to get the boost up to 8-10 or 12psi. Any ...

I've FINALLY got a donor car for my drivetrain swap!

The gold car below is the first 1999 I bought for $1200. It was suppose to the donor car for my 88 LeSabre T-Type but it was in too nice of shape to junk it. My mother is now driving it.

Then, after about two years, I found this white one with ...

Re: I've aquired me another SSEi.

Engine is out of the maroon car and has been installed into the white car.

The maroon car is now a donor car.

The white car is for sale. I'll be posting it on Craigslist. after I get everything working on the car.

Re: I've aquired me another SSEi.

So, I've found another 99 Bonneville SSEi (maroon) for $800 that runs and drives but needs paint. Looks like I'll be getting the white Bonneville running to sell and just use the maroon Bonneville for it's drivetrain to swap into my 88 LeSabre.

Re: I've aquired me another SSEi.

I may have to use this engine/trans as a complete swap into my 1988 LeSabre T-Type. Then, try to find another donor SSEi to get the white one up and running again to resell...

Re: I've aquired me another SSEi.

The Regal had a fire under the hood. It was crispy from the radiator to the firewall. I figured since it was a fire that destroyed the car, the engine may have been good. My luck was bad, yet turned out good as far as the performance parts.

So basically, I'll need the 99 Bonneville computer ...

Re: I've aquired me another SSEi.

I was thinking the trans may have some "hard parts" in it to hold the power this engine might have been putting out. Not really sure how much power it may have. I'm thinking somewhere around 300HP...maybe upwards of 350?? I'm not even sure what size supercharger pulley to buy for the engine after I ...

I've aquired me another SSEi.

Its a 1999. White with charcoal interior. I found it on craigslist for $600 but got it for $300. Anyway, the engine was blown up and upon teardown, one of the pistons wasn't on the rod. The rod busted a hole in the side of the block. Fast forward to last weekend. I went to a local you-pull-it yard ...

Re: Buying an SSEi - Best Years & Things To Check

I was under the impression GM "sped up" the computers in the 99's and later? So you're saying the 98-99 are exactly the same as far as drivetrain/ECM wise?

My fleet of 3.8L cars...

Here's where all my money goes...

The 1978 Malibu with GN drivetrain making 600HP to the rear wheels! I have owned this car since 1986.

Don't junk the body after removing the drive train. I would definitely love to have that. Even if I could get the front and back bumpers...

Re: how did you get your beloved Bonneville

Found mine on Craigslist. I gave $1200 for the car. I actually bought the car to be a donor car for my 1988 LeSabre T-Type. I traveled a little over 300 miles away and drove it back without a single problem. I'm still not sure if I want to keep it for a donor or flip it for more cash since it's good ...
