Re: I'm back in a Bonneville!

I haven't wanted a 00-05 Bonneville this much since I first laid eyes on a GXP. Your car is slowly regressing in age. Great job. Really.

Re: Engine flushing

Only because it hasn't been said yet....one of the worst things that can happen if you've got any sludge in the crankcase or up under the valve covers is loosening it up and clogging one or more passageways, or worse yet, and even more likely, clogging the pickup screen. Before doing anything ...

Oh, that good ole "disconnect the battery before the prospective buyer comes to drive the car, the light won't come back on until after they buy it" bit.

yep. seen that movie.

hopefully something cheap for ya Chris! those aren't *awful* cars...they just weren't Ford's best creation. Built right ...

Re: 1990-91 Bonneville Information.

Positively rock solid cars. An SE for a 90 or 91 is a mid-range car, which should have at least a few options (trust me when I say that the Bonneville was available in some seriously stripped down versions in these years). I will tell you with absolute certainty that if I came across a random ...

Re: Transmission

Is the fluid at the right level and in good condition? The only thing still vacuum controlled on that transmission is the shift pressure. The throttle valve cable went away with the 440T4 turning into the 4T60E.

If I understand you, it's dropping out of overdrive at speeds above 48 mph? Or is it ...

Re: Brake pull to the left

I'm sure you did, but just to be sure...you thoroughly cleaned the rotors of their anti-corrosive oil packing correct?

Are any of the brakes getting hotter than usual while/after driving?

I'd be interested to see your alignment spec sheet before speculating. Can you scan it, or get a clear picture of it?

Re: Restoring the SSEi: F40 swap, HIDs, and a HY35 turbo.

That video just made me miss my SSE and PAU SOOOO much. That gauge cluster, that whine....ridiculous.

I look forward to some more driving videos of this machine! I can't wait to see an all out pull once it's 100% tuned. Definitely don't want to see you blow it up by jumping on it too hard, too soon ...

That is awesome! Congrats Will!
That mileage really has gotten up there since I'd last seen that car...you obviously are keeping it in perfect working order, and then some!

Re: Who makes the best 02 Sensors?

NTK makes excellent oxygen sensors. They're OEM on many Ford vehicles. Denso makes nearly all the sensors for modern GM and all Toyota cars/trucks.

Those are definitely the best two out there from what I've seen in the aspects of performance and longevity.

Sooo, who was it?

Spotted on I85 south tonight toward ATL, a white, 40th SSEi, in literally perfect condition, with 2000 MY swoopies on it.

if this isn't a club member, they're seriously in love with their car.

Also, they have a newer printed GA plate starting with PIT, meaning they've probably had the car about a ...

Re: Subframe dropping, 92 SE

There is a relatively fragile cage nut sitting inside the hole there that has, by your description, broken away from the stamped body it's held in by (which is what happens when you hit it with an impact and it's rusted in place) Basically, your bushing support/washer rusted through (they're hardly ...

$5,500 in gas....
$505 in preventative maintenance
$100 for one repair
$100 for ONE mod (STB)
$770 on tires
$3500 on insurance
$8000 in payments

avg ~$970/mo

I think my old cars were cheaper to maintain....ugh. Not to mention, I haven't even begun the go-fast mods!
