Congrats on the new vehicles and the financial freedom of paying off debt!
I've been living the same way for the last few years, and it's very freeing to be debt free, even at the "expense" of not as expensive vehicles. It's just not worth it to be "car poor" and enslaved to big payments every ...

Re: Silver Shadow, my 97SE
Looks extremely clean and well kept. I dig the cleared corners up front. I think the cleared corners really work well with the silver paint.

Re: New car: 1997 Camaro
Car looks great, I dig the color combo - always have liked that shade of green and the tan interior looks great with it. I'm liking the OEM wheels best...sorry....always have liked them better and think they make it look more up to date.

Re: My dad's like new, new ride
Nice! He sure got good use out of the last one. Looks like as well optioned as you could get an SXT without buying the R/T....it's got everything including all the R/T appearance items except no Hemi. Like the color combo too. We love our 300 and will definitely buy another when it's time to upgrade ...

Re: Leather restoration
Sorry about the delay in getting back to you guys, the leather repair has actually held up decent for the heavy use its been getting. It is showing some tiny cracking though as I did not get a chance to put any clear coat on it. Need to do this repair with a clear coat on my Avalanche and see how it ...

Re: Cleanest Blazer I've ever seen!
Same here at the shop where I work at, we chuckle any time a GM truck comes in that hasn't been in before or in a long time - we can pretty much assume idler and pitman arms are loose.
This Blazer I'm just reselling - I don't have any use for it, and though it's interesting because of condition ...

WOW!! That thing is amazingly clean!! Especially for living in the rust belt! If it were a GMT800 that clean, might have to add it to the fleet.

Cleanest Blazer I've ever seen!
Picked up this time capsule from 2001 recently.
This '01 Blazer LT belonged to a 75 yr old client of mine who was looking to upgrade and not stick any more maintenance into it. Currently has 97k miles, he bought it from an elderly couple at 30k who bought it new. Loaded with most of the options ...

Re: New car: 1997 Camaro
Sweet! I have always loved that color and wheels on that body style. 3800, 5 speed, and T-tops should prove to be a fun combo and easy on the wallet too.

Re: 1990 Volvo 240 DL: Winter Beater, take 2
Haha. On my morning commute I used to meet up with one a slightly darker shade of blue - the guy always had issues with it running poorly and stalling. Always was sooo slow. I would purposely drive 5-10 mph faster than normal on a certain stretch of road to make sure I got ahead of him before ...

Looks fantastic. So shiny! And love the wheels and color too - one of the nicer and rarely seen colors on that body style.

Re: Leather restoration
Hmm....that is a good point. I'm sure it could be done. The paint/dye is suspiciously similar to indoor latex house paint, perhaps a slightly thinner feel, requiring a few coats of coverage to create a strong color. I'm not sure how a dark to light transition would be without trying it first. But ...

Leather restoration
This isn't on a Bonneville, but I figured this may be of use to some of you - it sure revived the nasty interior of my project Suburban.
Backstory, I picked up this '04 Suburban Z71 for dirt cheap as it needed bodywork, interior work, and a couple non-op accessories fixed. Currently has 151k, had ...

Re: What did we do to her car?
Looks nice! Always have loved that bodystyle of CTS. How have yours faired reliability-wise and with maintenance costs? With 08-09 models nearing the $12-13k mark lately up here, and with AWD capability on this bodystyle, they seem quite tempting if upkeep isn't too bad.

Mmmm. Would love to get my hands on one of those. Eventually. My boss' brother has one identical to yours, and I'm always surprised at the throaty stock exhaust note....sounds awesome.

Re: Vulcan 3.0L V6 opinions
The motors, while not the most powerful or refined are very reliable. Rarely see any major issues. I see plenty at the shop, but it's usually just normal wear items, crankshaft sychronizers, tune up issues. Mostly just lack of maintenance as they're pretty much workhorse cars. Transmissions are no ...

Re: New to the driveway
I'd stick with either SRT8 style wheels or if you wanted to go the classic route with some torque-thrust style wheels, check out the ones that the Challenger R/T with the Classic edition appearance package came with. They're 20" and have a nice blend of old and new that would fit the car well. They ...

Re: Radiator Sludge
Agreed, doing a coolant flush is a needed and often overlooked piece of routine maintenance, just like changing oil or diff fluid or any other fluid. Like it was said, a lot of people forget that coolant is not just about the cooling part of things but also the anti-corrosion part of things.
