Re: Re-Built transmission slipping again in less than a year

Rebuilds are often questionable because some shops just do not spend the time nor money to rebuild them properly. They cut corners. Often times parts that should be replaced are "reconditioned", meaning cleaned up, checked for specs, and thrown back in.

As for the track record on the 4T65, yes ...

Re: 2000SLE Water Pump Replacement

I cannot even imagine what one would be quoted on a car there the timing belt would have to come off just to get to the water pump. Such is the case with my corolla.

Re: Random leak?

How are you so sure it is not oil? When I was reading up on these things on the car complaints website, it looks like some owners had problems with an oil leak onto the exhaust, sometimes causing fires. Is there any burning smell? I do not think it is real likely though.

About the PS leak, four ...

How to bleed brakes after replacing master cylinder lines?

So the master cylinder reservoir was not dry, but anyways I had to replace the two lines from the M.C to the ABS module.

Is there any special way to go about bleeding it? Do I just pop open the caliper screws and wait for things to bleed like normal?

Right now it has little or no braking power ...

Re: reset service engine light

I am not sure how the heck the car knows if the gas cap is on or not. If there is a pressure sensor, it might be possible that the gas filler neck is rusted through at some point. Or, if there is a small hose leading back to the fuel door next to the filler neck, it might be rusted through.

Just ...

Car shudder on hard take-off, will this be an issue?

Ok so I used to have a 1999 Lesabre years ago. Of course the 2000 bonneville has the same engine. L36

One thing my Lesabre did that I never did figure out or diagnose (due to selling it) was if I was at a dead stop or really slow roll and tried to take off real quick, sometimes the car would ...

Re: Advice for recent 2000 bonneville 3.8 owner?

Well it seems I am not on moderation now, I guess they just have to check a new user's first few posts to make sure it is not a spammer.

I will definitely be checking the intake gaskets.
The problem of course is I have NO history on this car. The trans fluid is red, the oil is black (but we have ...

MKMike, keep us posted on how the final repairs go and what it took to do so.

As I mentioned, I am soon going to have the enjoyment of replacing brake lines myself.

Advice for recent 2000 bonneville 3.8 owner?

It is actually my room mate's latest car but I will be the one maintaining it.

As we know, all cars have common failure points or other quirks.
What might they be on a 2000 bonneville with the 3.8 engine?

The things I have already learned so far are -
The window motors seem to not work. Same ...

Re: Brake lines rotted out, what are my options?

MKMike, I really appreciate the response.

I did a little investigating and it looks like the brake lines (except for the rear brakes) will be easy enough to get to.
One thing that kind of threw me though is the two lines from the master cylinder to the ABS module both have two of those braided ...

Brake lines rotted out, what are my options?

Friend bought a 2000 Bonneville SLE.
Brake Pedal goes almost to the floor and has little braking power.

The brake lines have been repaired several times before apparently because there is like this braided short line on several parts of the brake lines.

Anyways, one of the lines going to the ...
