Re: Sell my Bonnie?
That's good to know. I'll detail it really well and start closer to 3k then. I'm quite sorry to have to leave it. :(

Sell my Bonnie?
Well, with no money left to figure out this misfire issue, and moving for law school in 2 weeks to a place that has emissions testing, I think I have to get out of the Bonneville racket. It's been a great family car for 4, but I have neither time nor money to address this misfire issue which will ...

Re: Misfire . . . AGAIN!
Gasket for throttle body wasn't in stock, so I just changed the fuel filter to see if it wouldn't make another incremental increase in performance. It misfires a tiny bit worse now. :(
oh ya, and I smell like gas now.

Re: Misfire . . . AGAIN!
I cleaned the MAF last night and gave it a hard turn around the block. I noticed an improvement, for sure, but I still feel it misfiring. It'll dump almost 10 lbs boost in, but when it takes off, it feels like it's stumbling still. I haven't held the gas in to see if the SES light flashes, but I ...

Re: Misfire . . . AGAIN!
I had this same issue for so long as well. I chased it down to first being a bad MAF, then bad coils, then replaced the ICM as it would go away for a while then come back. I too thought that the CPS or harmonic balancer was the issue. Finally, I noticed that I had burned a hole in the plastic on ...

Re: Misfire . . . AGAIN!
How common is the harmonic balancer failing? I am reaching for any solution, I know, but I may hear a sound at certain RPMs and when starting the car that might be localized over there on the passenger side of the engine compartment that sounds like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCeMx18P2aM ...

Re: Misfire . . . AGAIN!
New icm, coil, and plugs didn't solve it. It doesn't misfire at such low throttle anymore, but it still does under 2/3 or more on the gas. What am I missing? Old plugs smelled like gas terribly.

Re: Misfire . . . AGAIN!
Just to let you know, I cleaned the MAF and got the filter at the same time. :)

Re: High oil pressure reading in cold weather
Good luck with the tools on replacing that. There's a thread here somewhere where someone used channel-locks. When I bought an inferior part and had a second failure in about a year, I broke down and bought a deep 1 1/16" socket for 1/2" drive. I'll probably never use that thing again. It's like the ...

Re: Foogy looking tail lights water in tail lights 01 SE
I have this. The trunk usually opens automatically . . . . unless the entire rear taillight-reflector assembly is full of water. I'm sure that with some kind of automotive goo/caulk/adhesive, one can repair it and seal it all up, but I'm not sure of the BEST solution.

Re: Groaning brakes
Just for moral support, I'd like you to know that you're not the only one with this problem. So you know, it's been about a year since I did my brakes, turned all 4 rotors, replaced all 4 with the highest grade Raybestos pads, completely bled whole system, and the groan started. Mine is just like ...

Re: Is my fuel pump to blame?
Oh man, I should probably make sure it's sealed! I may also have a tank full of gas, as I just filled up from just under half way and put over 10 gallons in before it stopped.
When all is said and done, we should all "thank the Manufacturer" that we didn't have to remove any gas tanks for this job ...

Re: Is my fuel pump to blame?
The instructions that came with the assembly laid out the procedure for the new chassis harness connector, including using a heat gun to shrink the insulation on the included crimp splice things until a little bit of sealant comes out the ends, whatever that means.

Re: Is my fuel pump to blame?
Brass punch, eh? Call me stupid, because I've never even heard of this. I'm going to tackle this today, and I need to retrieve a new fuel filter, so I'll see if I can grab a brass punch, too. Oh ya, I need 5 7mm screws and clips because the idiot before me didn't put them back ...
