been having some what of a hard start where I have to step on the gas pedal 2 or 3 times while starting in order to get the car to stay running.. also it has been smelling like raw gas in the car.

Only way is with a fuel pressure gauge correct ? And i have the actron scanner wiyh gm cartridge that reads live data. Would the scanner tell me anything ? I can keep car running as long as i step on the gas and hold it down a lil

my delta 88 has been running great, just last month I put a new oxygen sensor and a new catalytic converter on it. ran perfect. no issues at all..

thanks jr, that's where I was really getting confused. lol I was thinking the firing order is the order I had to put the wires on the coils.. lol. appreciate it guys.. I will head out to the garage around 11 and try that. thanks

ok so I took a pic, keep in mind my coils packs are on top of rear valve cover by fire wall, the plug for the icm is on the left side of the coil packs by my finger in the pic..
my finger in the pic is on the pin where my number 1 cyl spark plug wire is on, then Its 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, ( 2 is last one ...

3/6 are on the coil to the left, 2/5 on the middle coil, 1/4 on the right coil.

You are lucky as *shoot* that the nose cone of your starter didn't break off with the ( 14 52 36 ) configuration.

ok so i confirmed im getting good fuel as i pulled plugs and they were wet and wreaked of gas, i confirmed im getting spark, i used inline spark tester and i pulled a plug and grounded it while cranking engine. but she still wont start.
im wondering if i flooded the engine from the excessive amount ...

here is the replacement piece of hose i replaced that broke on the fuel pressure regulator. and also a pic of the engine and coil pack the guy asked for lol.

ok so i just fixed the firing order ( 1 6 5 4 3 2 ) and same thing. it cranks but no start. i will use my inline spark tester again to see of maybe one of the coils packs or the ICM took on a dump on me when the battery terminals shorted and the car lost all power..

Its the old 3.8... The coil pack is mounted top rear center of the engine over the rear valve cover...
The firing order is the same as any 3800 tho.. 1-6-5-4-3-2
And just like stated, Front bank( radiator side ) is 1-3-5 and firewall side is 2-4-6

UPDATE. took battery off trickle charger and installed back in car, it gave me power back then as soon as I go to start the car, it lost all power again. ( this is a side post battery.. )

if my ignition switch went bad, would that cause me to not have any power to my head lights or interior lights or horn ? and battery reads 12.2 volts on meter.. but I left it on trickle charger all night and will see if it works later.

so I was second guessing the firing order and decided to go give it a look over. first of all I did notice I do have 3 separate coil packs. not 1 big one.. this is what I found.

Engine idling should see no activity from the EGR.
I would check the MAF. Unplug it an see how it runs. Check the wires and make sure they are on the correct cylinders.
Does this have the coil upgrade?

You need to match to the specified resistance in the table in the link i provided. It gives the measurement to use. Match as close as you can. The system allows a 10% variance i believe, and when i did the fix, the resistors themselves had a 5% variance, so you really need to be on your toes with ...

ok so I got car home. had it towed. BUT while waiting for tow truck, I took a flat head to jump starter and see if it worked or not and the starter did work fine once I jumped it with flat head.

not sure if its ignition switch or starter/solenoid. can I test the starter but using a ling flat head to touch the 2 terminals on the tarter solenoid together ? would that tell me if starter is good or bad ?
