Re: New Battery Time!!!
Yes they are the same company but the companies with their names on them have different "standards" as to what they will accept. Thats why walmart can sell theirs much cheaper, it doesnt have to meet the higher standards of lets say Sears or Autozone. So while its made from the same company it may ...

Re: New Battery Time!!!
78 series with vent tubes from Oreilly's for $99.99.
I guess I'm showing my age when a dinky little battery like a 78-series is a hundred bucks.
Heck, not too long ago, I could get a yellow Everstart Maxx 1000 CCA 24-series battery for my Catalina wagon at Wal-Mart for $69.99.

Re: North Star valve cover leak - update (final update)
I bought my 2005 GXP 18 months ago with 72,000 miles for $10,700 from a Chrysler/Jeep stealership. It had lots of little things wrong with it at the time, including a leaky rear valve cover, which they replaced. From what I could tell, the radiator and oil cooler lines were replaced sometime prior ...

Re: Engine Miss at Idle.....
I'm curious...has anybody bought the coils individually or just in the 4-coil cassette that we're screwed into buying?
Making the owner buy 4 coils instead of just one is definitely a sneaky trick taken right out of the Japanese auto makers' playbook!

Re: Engine Miss at Idle.....
Car had a blown fuse, ostensibly from removing coil pigtails.
Drove the car around today, but still couldn't get it to generate any codes.
Did I mention that the problem is exacerbated by the rain?
Anybody?

I already ran two quarts of Techron (Advance Auto, buy one, get one free) through it a week ago.
There were no codes stored, as I have the Advance Auto clerk put a scanner on it.
Also, I've had the "SES" light come on while going around corners, hard.
So, I started to unplug one coil at a time ...

I figured before buying from the japanese like every other smart person, I'd give Pontiac another chance, since I already own several from 1954-1976.Bigerik wrote:No one to blame but yourself if you think they are crap and keep buying them....
Of course, General Motors never fails to disappoint.

Affirmative. REAR. That's what the subject line stated.
So, even after Loc-tite, the bolts will all be loose again?
Then, what's the purpose of using Loc-tite?

You do realize the calipers are made by PBR, right? Last time I checked, PBR wasn't any company GM owns, subsidizes, or has a joint venture with.

I bought a gasket and tube seals, since the valve cover gasket is leaking at the corner.
My mechanic friend says the rate book says 2 hours.
How long should it REALLY take?
