Re: Can't bleed my brakes!
As my name implies, I've been around a while. My first job at 15 (1975) was working at a service station. Yeah, "ding ding" when you drove up to the pump, and I was the guys that asked: "Fill it up and check under the hood sir?". Yeah, that was me. I started hanging out with the mechanics and was ...

I can't understand how you can be purchasing all the parts, and have no way to scan for codes. I thought every parts store provided this service.

Re: Can't bleed my brakes!
I've bled brakes at the brake line many times when I had the same problem you're having. The air will find the way out! I'd spray the bleed valve with liquid wrench (best tested penetrating oil) and let it sit over night. I'd then use vice grips and possibly heat if needed. Once you get it out ...

Re: What did you do to your car today?
I used my truck to push it into the garage. It's sad. It's been sitting for a couple of years now, since I replaced it as my daily driver. I can't bring myself to get rid of it. It's been a really great car, but it just had too many major problems at a time where I couldn't afford to repair it and I ...

I've been away for a while
A few years ago, my '01 SSEi kept developing problems, so I replaced it with a truck that was really what I needed. I didn't get rid of my Bonneville and now I think I'm ready to really fix it up nice.

Re: Water pump failed and froze the pulley
Be sure and purge all the water out of the system. That bleeder valve on the thermostat housing helps a lot with that. Very common on the site to have folks flush the radiator, replace the water pump, replace the thermostat and then post that it's running hot. These things have secret hiding places ...

Re: Sunroof Leaks: First Check the Drain Nipples
Those "duckbills" on the ends of the tubes are actually called "Kazoo Drains" (like the musical instrument). Chevy used them in the 60's on the A/C condensation drains. The logic is that they open up once there is some accumulation of water, but otherwise stay closed to prevent critters and other ...

Re: 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI - C1295 Questions
I'm very confused. When you press on the brake pedal, what happens? Have you installed wiring for a trailer, or was it done before you purchased the car? If so, it's a bad conversion box. The only light on is for the Traction Control? If it's combined with ABS light, you have a bad wheel speed ...

Will do. That means I'll have to air up the flat tires!

Yeah, I'll give that a try. Basic stuff. I was thinking too much about electronics instead of basic electrical.
Thanks,
Thanks,

2001 SSEi, been sitting about 6 months, won't crank
I've replaced my Bonneville with a pick up truck, and it's just been sitting for about 6 months. I charged the battery and decided I'd get it running for someone who needs a car. I turn the key and absolutely nothing happens. Battery is fully charged, lights don't die, but it doesn't even try to ...

Re: Oil Pressure issues
Thanks. I get get beyond assuming it's a bad oil pump, but everyone tells me these oil pumps don't wear out. I've got 285,000 miles on it, but the motor was replaced with a Goodwrench motor at 135,000 miles. Would it have come with a new oil pump? Would it make sense to drop the oil pan and check ...

This part worked great! Direct replacement. Plugged in to fuel pump and plugged in to housing with no modification needed. Great to have a working fuel gauge again!

Oil Pressure issues
Sorry if there are similar posts here. I couldn't find on like this.
When cold, I have average oil pressure. Gauge is right in the middle. The warmer it gets, the lower the pressure reading is. I've tried several brands and weights of oil and no help. It's gotten to the point where I get a "DING ...
