Re: New member... Maybe future owner?
I always liked the look of those wheels. Not much else on the road quite like that. Which is to say that I like them because they are distinctive, and fit the mood of the car as originally designed, not that they are great wheels outside of that context. Sadly I think they only made those for a year ...

Re: Re-attaching the Muffler Heat Shield
It's been a while since I've been under a Bonneville, but I thought mine were held in place with metal pop rivets.
If it is metal pop rivets, you might have to drill out whatever is left. As for size, largest diameter that will fit, and not very long I wouldn't think.

Re: 95 Bonneville SE Broken Brake Line
I had to replace a few sections of line on my '93. A few things to note:
1) If you don't want to buy the flare tool or deal with pre-made lines, some parts stores loan out the kit.
2) Definitely inspect the rest of the lines. Two of my line failures were catastrophic, and one of them necessitated ...

That's a sad realization, but every car eventually has to go. It sounds like it has served you well.

That's a beautiful car. My '89 never looked that good. Same color, in theory, but mine had faded pink on all top surfaces.

Re: Birth of a Bonneville
Crazy to see that, 20+ years later. Crates full of 3800 engines... It reminds me of old pictures of WWII bombers production lines.
Thanks for posting.

Since I missed the first round, I added a couple of the '89, from back in the day.

Bad drums in the rear could also cause that, if I'm not mistaken.
ABS, I'd think you would hear/feel it kicking in.

Re: Stripped caliper bolt
It was odd, 11mm if it was metric.
Thankfully, I was able to get it together.
The stock bolts don't take full advantage of the hole depth, so while two of my holes were quite stripped to about 3/4 depth, I still had a few good threads at the end. On top of that, some of the strippage was ...

Re: Stripped caliper bolt
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'd go for the knuckle as a last resort, but don't care to do an alignment at this time if I can help it.
Spending money on this car at all is hard to justify. The bulk of the front suspension is worn out, and even if I got around to replacing that, it's got the ...

Re: Stripped caliper bolt
Sorry, I should have specified. It's the knuckle that's stripped, save for about 1.5 threads at the end that the stock bolt doesn't quite catch.
Nah, the bolt would have been too easy.
Thanks though.

Stripped caliper bolt
As the title suggests, I have a stripped out caliper bolt on my '93.
Is there any chance that an oversized caliper bolt exists for this application? A quick googling turned up nothing.
Otherwise, any suggestions? I have some ideas, but none are fun/easy.

Rear quarter window replacement
I'm looking at another Bonneville. It's somehow got two broken rear quarter windows.
Has anyone replaced these on their own? I'd have no clue how to get it out. Or back in.
This happens to be a '91, but I suppose the same principles apply regardless of year, right?
Otherwise, any clue what it ...

Re: Disturbingly high oil pressure?
I haven't bought one yet. I considered putting a mechanical gauge on it, just to be sure. I don't have one, but my brother might. We'll see. I'm not too concerned about the possibility of it being anything more than a sensor going out now, since it's still running fine after a couple of days. It ...

Re: Disturbingly high oil pressure?
Perhaps I'll price out Delco sensors then. I cringe at putting any more cash into it though, since money spent on this car is money I'm not saving towards it's replacement.
The suggestion that prospective buyers might also be gauge watchers is legit though. Good thinking.

Re: Disturbingly high oil pressure?
If it makes any difference, it doesn't peg itself all at once. It's variable with RPM's still. It doesn't just suddenly click over to 120.
Hopefully that's all it is, anyway.
Not sure I'd bother replacing it though. As long as it's not going to seize or throw a rod, that's all I need to know. I'm ...

Re: Disturbingly high oil pressure?
look into a oil pressure gauge/ switch these seem to cause the symptoms your having
Well that was my first thought - "woah, the gauge flaked out for a minute"
But it's so consistent now, and so obviously coincides with engine RPM's... it can't just be a faulty sensor then, can it?
Unless the ...
