Re: How to remove a 3800 III motor
Just talking about the trans-I had the slipping in/out of OD and it turned out to be cracked vacuum lines. Lots of them. I would also use the red or black or both Lubegard products (w/a fresh filter & fluid change) before rebuilding a trans.

Re: had mechanic look at bonne, not in engine
Read your first post-I've had bad harmonic balancers, bad flexplates & bad trans, albeit on different vehicles but none had lack of power & had to limp home like you mentioned. I even had a broken rocker & it made a terrible racket but I was able to drive home under good power (V-8).

Re: '95 Bonneville headlight switch replacement
I had a problem w/my '95 headlight switch & went through 3 of them. After the original? burned out the replacements only lasted about a year. I read somewhere on this forum that the solution was to use the switch from a '96 that has the twilight feature, as it is heavy duty compared to the standard ...

Re: Trans sometimes drops to 3rd gear and won't upshift
I had a similar problem & it was a vacuum leak. At first I thought it was just the vacuum modulator hose, as it had some cracks in it but it took a few trips under the hood to replace all the rubber hoses. Even one of the hard plastic hoses had a crack in it.
It also affected my cruise control but ...

Re: I got tired of jacking up one side at a time
I didn't know that was a jack point. The metal didn't look that sturdy.
The gravel driveway is easy. I used to live on the 3rd floor & had to lug that beast up & down whenever I needed it.

This nice piece of seasoned wood was a perfect
fit between the control arms. All I had to do was loosen the muffler bolt to get some clearance.
This is on a '95 SE.

Re: "motor mounts"
I bought the driver's side mm (the one w/the little shock) from Advance & one hole didn't line up. I went across the street to AZ & ordered one & had to wait till the next day. Got it & 3 holes didn't line up. I wound up drilling them out so I could just put it on & get moving.

Re: Trailer hitch info?
Bonneville is a 3400+ lb. vehicle. I'm confident it can handle a 20 lb. bicycle.
Hmm-Why would someone put a trailer hitch on a front wheel drive car? I guess it's easier to see while driving. I suspect you would prefer to mount it to the front of the car, keeping in step w/your predilection for ...

Re: Trailer hitch info?
I have a '95 SE that's all stock & have had a Class 1 hitch for years. I towed a Harley on a trailer 2500 miles and pulled an open U-haul trailer w/a small generator about 900 miles. The only problem I had was that the headlight switch kept burning out but I finally upgraded to the later twilight ...
