Swapping tranmission question
The FSM states that to drop the engine cradle you must disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the stub shaft yet Bill buttermores write up in the techinfo section does not mention this step. So the question is do I disconnect the steering shaft or can I leave it alone?

Re: Chunky clunky marble sounds
I know from personal experience that when I changed one of my hubs the brake shield was rubbing on the inside of the rotor. It made a horrible scraping noise when driven.

Double check your radiator hoses while it is empty. Sucks to have to refill your cooling system twice in a month and it is getting warmer (hopefully).

Re: Outer Tie Rod
The Jam nut is a regular thread (ie lefty loosey)...re insert the outerend into the Steering Knuckle (if you have undone it) and it should hold the tie rod in place. If not grasp the inner with some vise grips to hold it in place. You will not break the inner joint. It is a ball in socket type joint ...

Re: power antenna wont go down
it could be one of two things...
1. The shaft of the antenna needs to be lubed. If I remember right most use a graphite lubrication.
2. The band that connects the shaft to the motor has either broken or slipped of the track. If it is broken you will need to buy a replacement shaft. It is a good ...

I got mine at the Pontiac dealership near me...79.00 and no real wait(1 day for them to receive them. The set they had in stock was missing an end rail gasket. Make sure you have all the parts before you leave)

I am envious of the room in front of the engine to work in. It looks like someone forgot to put in a couple of cylinders at the factory.

Saturday at Kensington was perfect.
80 degrees and no bugs. The Sun was out and shining.

Re: gas door
I replaced mine not too long ago.
Open the door and remove the plastic cover around the filler pipe(4 screws if I remember right).
Using a short boxed end wrench you can remove the two nuts holding the door on.
Use lots of PB Blaster on these first and let it soak in. The bolts will snap rather ...

You can order one for $9.00 from autozone. It may take a couple of days to get.
I do believe that some members use a small amount of JB Weld to hold them in place.
