I'll check battery terminals and ground bus bars as you suggest! Looks like it will be a busy weekend.
How does the battery ground wire look? Specifically, the copper under the insulation at both connection points?
Also, is there any corrosion on the ground bus bars under the front door kick ...

Re: '94 Stalls randomly while driving, and sometimes surges
Haven't thought of inspecting the wiring to the crank sensor. Will look into that.

'94 Stalls randomly while driving, and sometimes surges
I have a '94 with 244K miles on it. I've been struggling with diagnosing a random stalling issue over the past 18 months. Stall occurs on straight highways at 65 MPH as well as in town driving. Frequency of stalling is low. I can go a few weeks with no issue, then one day it may stall once, or ...

Looking for interior grab handle
Hi All,
I need to replace the front passenger side ceiling grab handle in a '94 Bonneville. Anyone know where I can find one?

Rough start/poor idle on cold start
'94 Bonneville, 228 K miles.
Recently, I've had intermittent problems with a real poor idle on a cold start. I have to keep the RPM above 1000 to prevent a stall. Idle resumes normal working conditions once the engine has reached operating temp. No CEL.

Re: Should I repair '94 SLE or sadly say good-bye?
I had a high idle problem on my '94 Bonneville. I cleaned the throttle body, idle air control and MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner fluid and changed out the upstream O2 sensor. Problem has been resolved.

Engine Surging
1994 Bonneville SE
Several months ago the engine would surge upwards of 3000 RPM on startup and stay there. I pressed the accelerator several times to see if maybe it was stuck, but surge continued. Turned engine off, cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner and seemed to fix the problem ...

ok, well, I guess this diagnostic is in order

This trick won't work because my '94 has an OBDII connector, not the 12 pin ALDL OBD connector.

Re: Engine Stalling while driving
OK, I replaced both the crankshaft and camshaft sensors. Engine will still not fire up. And I cannot pull any codes since this '94 seems to be the intermediate between OBDI and OBDII. It has an OBDII connector, but none of the auto stores can pull codes. I even took it to an official North Carolina ...

Re: Transmission slow to engage first gear when cold
So I've changed the trans fluid and filter. Topped it off, and found no leaks.
Shift problem still exists: On initial startup when engine is cold, trans does not go into Reverse right away. Instead, I have to move the shift lever through all gears down to "1" and back up to reverse before it ...

Transmission slow to engage first gear when cold
1998 Bonneville. 219K miles.
Lately, transmission has been slow to engage first gear. Happens at initial start up and will continue after coming to a full stop, such as at a stop light. Problem goes away after about 5-10 minutes.
Fluid looks clean. No leaks, but topped it off with about 1.5 qts ...

Well, I decided to change the head gaskets. Good decision! I found out all the water jacket passages in the head gaskets were about 90% clogged. Hence my overheating issues. Valves in head cylinders looked like toast. So I decided to purchase rebuilt head cylinders for $250 each.

How hot did it get when it overheated, and for how long?
Also, was the UIM replaced when you replaced the lower gaskets? Same for the throttle body gasket?
Have you tried bringing it up to temperature with the cap off until the thermostat opens so it's not building pressure? This is typically ...

Re: 1994 SE Overheating Issue
A failed lower intake manifold gasket is more likely. It's not as common on pre-95 engines, but it can happen. Blown head gaskets are few and far between on any 3800.
So I replaced the lower intake manifold a few weeks ago since I clearly noticed coolant leaking up around the junction of the ...
