Re: Heater Control Issues (Auto)
Just odd how it works on and off. Yesterday coming home i had heat. However today, I set the temp to the lowest setting and started the car, and I had heat. But after a few seconds, the actuator would move back to the cold position. During this, the screen on the climate control started blinking ...

Re: Heater Control Issues (Auto)
So I checked my heater hoses today after a 30min drive, and both were hot. That whole drive I did not have heat, but when I shut the car off and restarted it, i had heat again...wtf!
Pulled my glove box out to check the operation of the actuator. At full cold it moved smoothly to the left, and "hot ...

Re: Heater Control Issues (Auto)
I always was under the impression that it controlled the air path, but it makes sense now being a "blend" door. :dontknow: I talked to my teacher and he thinks its either a plugged heater core or a bad actuator which i know these cars are bad for. If thats the case then any idea why i would only ...

Re: Heater Control Issues (Auto)
Last time I did that they were hot, but the problem is so intermittent i'll have to check it when i know it's not working. Will post back when I do.

Heater Control Issues (Auto)
Hello all,
When I bought my car I knew that it needed a blend door actuator, as the only air coming out was through the defrost and footwell. Just recently, as the weather has been getting colder, I don't have any heat from the vents. When it's 0 degrees or so I'll get heat if im lucky, but all ...

Re: Some heat problems
Just wanted to share my experience with the same issue.
First day with the car on the road my water pump bit the dust. After changing it I still had a warm-up issue. I ended up needing a new tensioner/pulley assembly, so I pulled off the fittings on the heater hoses and noticed bits of broken up ...

Re: 1998 L36 Poor fuel mileage
Does the car coast freely? Age of plugs and wires? Fuel filter? Maybe run some fuel cleaner through it.
The upper intake was done a couple years ago along with plugs and wires, and I did both a cleaner and the fuel filter recently. Brakes are all new so I couldn't see anything binding? I'm ...

1998 L36 Poor fuel mileage
One thing i've noticed with my Bonneville is the somewhat excessive fuel consumption since i put it on the road two months ago. I find I'm averaging 400-450km to a tank of gas mostly highway using regular 87, driving normally. Meanwhile, my 2001 Impala with the L36 gets around 600km to a tank with ...

Heater hose inlet fitting nylon insert?
Currently changing my tensioner assembly. I popped the heater hose off (inlet) and noticed a bunch of broken up nylon pieces inside the fitting. Digging out all the pieces I noticed a small spring inside with a rubber grommet. Just wondering if this is important or necessary to re-install? Seems ...

From TC website:
Does Transport Canada have a safety standard for ABS?
No, not for ABS alone.
Transport Canada does have a standard for effectiveness of a vehicle's intact brake system, which includes braking performance in case of a failure of part of the system.

Thanks, I will ...

Re: ABS & Trac Off lights...C1217
I bought the car as is so it does need a safety. Had a blown brake line and front brakes were in piss poor shape. As well as 7 holes I had to patch lol. I don't think they hook a scanner to it for a safety. Problem is my insurance company won't cover the car without a safety because it's so old ...

Re: ABS & Trac Off lights...C1217
I switched the horn relay with both of the right side relays and it still gives me the same problem. I've confirmed that the horn relay is 2nd from the left. Those relays also work with the horn circuit. I've discovered a solution to the problem, and that was pulling the ABS and Trac bulbs out of ...

Re: ABS & Trac Off lights...C1217
I assumed from the pic that 2nd from the left was horn, which i confirmed it was. Wouldn't the last one to the right be the cooling fan relay, or are they both for ABS?

Re: ABS & Trac Off lights...C1217
I couldn't find a label anywhere. I assumed by that link the 2nd from the right on mine is the ABS. Theres only 4 connectors in the harness and judging by the amount of dust in there it's always been like that. Perhaps in later years they're that way, not to mention it's only an SE. I switched the ...

ABS & Trac Off lights...C1217
Hello all, since I bought my car it's always had the ABS and Trac Off lights staying on, but I bought the car with a blown brake line and an empty master cylinder.
Brake lines are now fixed but the lights won't go off. Scanner picks up a C1217 Brake Pressure Modulation Valve (BPMV) Pump Motor ...

Re: No pressure to rear drums?
So all I did was tap on the valve a few times with a hammer, and voila, fluid under pressure. I still think theres a bit of air in the system still but I now have acceptable braking pressure. Hopefully I wont run into valve issues down the road :/ Thanks everyone

No pressure to rear drums?
Hello everyone, first post here.
I bought a 98 SE about a month back. I knew it needed a brake line (Driver's front) and front pads and rotors (badly). I also ended up patching about 7 holes due to rust, lol. 236,000km for $600 :)
Every line had previously been replaced besides the two from the ...
