Fuel for SSEi (Supercharged)

I just picked up a 2001 SSEi. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned that was supercharged. With premium unleaded going for about 30 cents more per gallon, how many of you are using it? If you drive like an old lady and never jump on it, do you still need the premium? I would guess that the ...

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi P0171

I guess you didn't read the post fully. I said the engine had ALSO A MILD KNOCK. Which means the engine is going to need REPLACING. So again, as in my previous post, I hope some one has an to donate an engine.

My ZIP is 71837

Oh....ok sorry I misunderstood you. Check out this shop and see what ...

Console Peeling?

Hi;

I just picked up a bonneville and the console looks like it is peeling. How is that dealt with? I would really like it to have a clean look. Can you use plastidip on it or should I just use regular paint. I am hoping to get it to look like it did when it was new.

Re: Radio Option

You could possibly add on the steering wheel buttons to your aftermarket stereo as well. The stereo shop offered it to me but I figured I could live without.

Also, I believe I still have my factory head unit if you are interested. I'll check when I get home to see if it is still in the garage ...

Re: Oil on Exhaust Smell

Yup, definitely valve cover gaskets. The supercharged motors also have the same issues, and it would be good to put in the updated aluminum lower intake gaskets. They now also make aluminum coolant elbows as well.

Thanks Nos4Blood70......I decided last night to replace the lower intake gaskets as ...

Radio Option

Hi;

I just picked up a 2001 Bonneville SSEi. It has an aftermarket junk radio in it and I would like to go back to the factory one because A, it looks neater and B I can use my steering wheel controls.

Any idea how I can find out what it came with originally? There are three radio options that I ...

Re: Air Ride Suspension

I did KYB's on mine w/ Moog upper mounts and they are firmer then stocks that came out. Rockauto.com and use the club code for 5% discount. they are cheap too, like $45 for the pair IIRC. i have heard mixed reviews about the Monroe ones.. softer then OEM and have gone bad. my KYBs seem do to do ...

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi P0171

Do I understand that you are going to replace an engine over a P0171 code? What am I missing? A P0171 is a relatively simple issue to repair. Before you order an engine or pay for it to be shipped to you, why dont you go to a decent repair facility and pay them less than 100 dollars to tell you ...

Locking Gas Flap

I just picked up a 2001 SSEi Bonneville. I can open my gas flap by pulling it open, but am wondering if it is supposed to be locking. Does it have a locking gas flap? There is a cable in the trunk to release it manually, but I dont see anything electric or cable in the interior for Gas Release ...

Re: 2003 Bonneville SSEi P0171

Look up a guy called scannerdanner or Schrodingers Box on you tube. They do a pretty good job of explaining fuel trims. I will try to explain them briefly so you understand the basic concept. For an engine to run at peak efficiency, you need 14.7 parts of air to 1 part of fuel. Thats called ...

Oil on Exhaust Smell

Hi;

I just picked up my first Supercharged Bonneville. It is a 2001 SSEi. I smell oil that is leaking onto the exhaust manifold and burning. When I raise the hood, I actually see some smoke wisping up from the front manifold, but nothing on the back. So I will replace the front, and rear while I am ...
