Re: Wrecked GXP
Not totaling, it's just repair costs. I can take a check or get it repaired. If I go ahead and get it repaired, instead of putting that check towards another car, I still have to repair the other problems I mentioned above, plus a bunch of other little ones on my dime. I am afraid that I will go ...

Re: Wrecked GXP
I am still waiting to hear back for approval since it's the other drivers insurance, but it looks like between $3500 and $4000

Wrecked GXP
Hey, I have a "what would you do question". Sorry to post in mechanical, but you are GXP guys, so you know the love hate relationship. My 05 GXP with 115k miles on it just got rear ended the other day, and pushed into the 2 cars in front of me. Minor Front end damage, heavier rear end damage, but ...

Re: Coil Packs
Put in new spark plugs, engine mount, and tranny mount (both mounts were broken again.) It helped but the shudder was still there. Turned out that it was the TCU. The bad news is that the tranny has to be partially dropped to access it, so the labor cost ain't cheap. Shifts nice and smooth now.

Plastic cover under front end.
Ok, stupid question. How do I get the black plastic cover off, UNDER the front of the car. Radiator took a dump and I need to inspect from under the car. I tried pulling on it to pop the clips/fasteners but, after much force, my instincts tell me to stop before I break it. What's the trick?

Re: Coil Packs
Thanks to you both. How many engine mounts, and transmission mounts are there each? 2 engine, one transmission? I need to do my homework before I take it in again. It's been snapping motor mounts on a pretty regular basis. Makes me wonder if a broken trans mount would contribute to this? It's been ...

Re: Coil Packs
Thanks for replying! The trans mount was replaced a few months back but it wouldn't be a stretch to suppose that it may have broken again. I'll check it out. Merry Christmas!

Coil Packs
Hey guys, 05 GXP is shuddering terribly when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. I mean really bad! I have had this problem before but not as severe. Replies to an earlier post by me, long ago, suggested a power problem. The car has been repaired so many times, I honestly don't remember what fixed it ...

Re: 2005 GXP Power loss
I know that this is an old post, but I will add my two cents. I had a similar problem when stopping and hard turning. I finally figured out that the condensation resevoir drain was blocked and the resevoir was filling up with water and slowing down the fan when the car was not level, such as when ...

AC Condensation Line & Blower Motor
I discovered water in the rear floor of my 05 GXP. I thought that it was a door leak or moonroof drain problem described in other posts but have since discovered, I think, that it is actually air conditioning condensation leaking into the car. I discovered water dripping from the blower area after ...

Re: Purchasing a GXP
I really loved my GXP when I bought it new, but honestly, it's the worst car I have ever had. Nothing but problems and lots of 'em.

AC Problems
My ac blower stopped working completely on my 2005 GXP the other day. Blower does not work at any setting. I pulled the cover under the dash on the passenger side and noticed that the condensation is coming into the car. Could be unrelated. Where does the evap line come out under the car? Is it easy ...

Throttle Body
Sorry for the stupid question, but I am broke and want to clean the throttle body myself as suggested in the service schedule. I am starting to tackle some of the regular maintenance and repairs myself again after years of having the dealer do everything. In short, I got spoiled and ignorant, and I ...

Flush Out Intake
Hello and Merry Christmas. I want to clean the intake on my 05 Bonneville Northstar with some Sea Foam and I was wondering if anybody could offer some advice on what the easiest and most effective way to do this is.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Water in Car
Thanks ddalder, I will check that out. I have spent a couple of thousand this year at the dealer and I'm tapped out.
I am going to have to try to fix it myself. Thanks for the advice.

Water in Car
I have read many of the posts about water in the car. I thought that I would add mine. At first I thought that it was the kids leaving their water bottles on the floor because the back right passenger floor was wet. After I dried it out, it happened again so I knew something was up. Well now after a ...
