Re: Northstar Performance vs Norms Tserts
I just did mine with Northstar performance studs, because I plan on keeping my car for ever.
I would only use a Sert in my engine if I planned on selling it.....
There is a right tool for the job and the only way to do a Northstar is by studding the block. I have seen to many Northstars with ...

Re: Head gasket failure....
This is awesome to see! I wish more people would do this instead of fearing the Northstar for the head gasket issues. Let's get some more pics of the car all cleaned up now :)
I would, but I live around Frankenmuth Michigan, with all the salt on the roads here it is a Far cry from being cleaned ...

Re: Head gasket failure....
The engine will come out from the top, but it is twice as much work in all honesty. Not to mention it is a lot easier to drill and tap the block when it is bolted to a 4T80 on a craddle then on any engine stand......

Re: Head gasket failure....
I did the job myself at work with a few of the other mechanics all pitching it.
The Stud kit was $550.00 shipped and I also replaced the water pump, thermostat, oil pressure sending unit and al gaskets.
I would never in a million years dream of yanking the engine from the top, that's just WAY to ...

Head gasket failure....
More to the point it was clamping force failure mostly on Cylinder #1.
Started out for work Friday and car wouldn't start, started to turn over then just quit. No more cranking just a loud Clunk from the starter. Take to truck to work and I will mess with the car when I get home. I have figured the ...

Re: Need someone to help me analyze this leak / mount
With a lift, and never had done one before, I was able to change mine out on my 1 hour lunch break.
I pulled the lower bumper close out panel and removed the 2 front subframe bolts, then just worked directly on the mount until it came out.
Not a bad job.

Re: Please help!? Died, now won't start.
I noticed you said you were sitting in the car eating lunch, while it was running. That's the only time my car ever over heated on me and that's when it started to suck coolant the worst.

Re: Please help!? Died, now won't start.
Mine just did the exact same thing. Rear cyclinder was hydrolocked with coolant. Pulled all 8 plugs and motor bumped over fine, reinstalled the plugs and fired right up.
