Re: Maintenance before school

Well for my skill arsenal so far I can only change oil, transmission pan drop, change oil. I've changed my shocks once. Tool wise I have a torque wrench, impact wrench, & socket set. Yes that's exactly my goal to avoid having to do them in the parking lot & other possible future repairs.

Maintenance before school

I've put together a list of stuff that I plan to do to my car before I start school in the fall since I probably won't have the time then nor have the space since I'll be staying on campus. Feel free to add or take away anything, I don't go away until Aug 21. I'll probably only bring socket set ...

I'll probably bleed them as well since my fluid hasn't been changed in who knows how long.

Ok I probably will as I have almost a month before I go. And thanks I'll keep that quote in mind for future reference as well.

Re: In a bit of a dilemma

Did you get a flashlight and actually look at the thickness of your brake pads? I'm not trying to be insulting, but from your pictures I get the impression you just looked at your rotors for wear. If you didn't actually look at the pads, get in there with a flashlight and work until you can get the ...

Couldn't get any really good pictures as I couldn't get the caliper bolts out, but from what I saw, my brakes aren't badly worn.

Re: In a bit of a dilemma

I got them in Dec 2013 but I'm not in cold weather anymore as well. I'm down in Florida now. I figure it might be replacement time since it's been that long.

Re: In a bit of a dilemma

Yes they stop smoothly it just seems as if they take awhile, but they aren't grinding at all (they're ceramic not sure if that matters or not) yes it's firm.

[quote="RJolly87Also, depending on what conditions the brakes are exhibiting, and how close they are to critical, it may not even be a concern there either, because it's not like you are using the brakes on the highway. Even so, they are usually pretty easy to do.[/quote]

Re: In a bit of a dilemma

pads and rotors are a 1-2 if you have any decent amount of tools. The hardest thing will be to break the caliper bolts off of the spindle

the Hub on the other hand, is probably a 5-6 only because you need to break off the axle nut and can be a PITA sometimes. Also depending on the milage the ...

Ok see I have to take a trip for to Miami in April to visit a school I'm going to be attending in the fall which is 10 hours round trip (5 hrs there & 5 back) from early Saturday to late Monday and I'm trying to see which route is the most feasible. If I get a rental car I'm looking at ...

Re: Improvement List

Beware that some of the new front struts make the front end sit like 2 inches higher than stock.

Hockey puck and boat roller are the same. The puck mount feels just a teensy bit more solid, but comes with the expense of increased vibes.

If you haven't bought the FWI yet, don't waste money on it ...

Sunroof issues

My sunroof no longer opens or even moves. I followed the sticky on how to take it off but now I'm stumped as in what would be my next step. I'm wondering if I would need to purchase a new assembly or not. Here is a video of it, I can see a small plastic piece moving on one side but not the other ...

Re: Blower Motor doesn't always come on, please help.

I went through the same problem around January this year. Try removing the blower motor and opening the it from the top spray some compressed air in it and shake it upside down until all of the dirt comes out of it. And if you have to buy a new one beware of the autozone one cause my holes didn't ...

Re: P1811 Code long distance driving

AS far as the sea foam goes use it a short while (like 300-500 mi)before the fluid change. If you use it afterward all the dirt it cleans will still be in there.

You would be better off to use a reputable brand than the cheapest when you buy a part.

The shift kit is supposed to help. I'm due ...

Ok thanks & for the Trans fluid part do I add the seaform before or after getting it changed?

And does fuel filter brand matter or not?
