Re: 4T65 Transmission Help/Question

Well, I'm not a fan of putting "fix-it" from a bottle and I would venture that it'll cause more problems so I'd recommend getting that stuff out of there. Best course of action would be to monitor it would either a Tech2 or something like Torque Pro with an android OS. The only guess I would have is ...

Re: Tires

Yep 14's were stock for a number of years... Unless you ordered an uplevel package then you got 15's with the SSE you got 16's..

I would say if you could find a 15" then I would do a 215/65 15

But if you keep the 14's the larger size won't hurt other than the minor speedo error.. I think without ...

Re: Tires

Money's a little tight so I'm sticking with the 14's for now. Just real hard finding tires in that size. I think I'm going with the hankook optimos. They seem to be a decent tire.

Re: Power steering return line replacement

Nothing special required, just drain the system, replace the line than fill up. Start the car and work the steering wheel back and forth and fill as needed.

Re: Best year Pontiac bonneville

Best run was within your year, 2000-2005. Those would be the best refined of the generations. But I'm biased, I love my 88' and feel the 1987-1991 are the most fun.

Yea they did. I believe for this generation the LE's came with 14" while the upper trim levels went to 15" rims.

Re: Tires

I know I know, just trying to get all I can out of it. Couldn't find a used set of larger rims and I needed new tires badly so I'm extracting all I can out of the old girl.

Yea I figured, I'm hoping the slightly wider tire will improve handling a bit.

Tires

Needing advice on fitting a slightly wider tire onto the old stock 14" rim. I'm considering going with a set of Hankook Optimo's at 215 75r14 rather than the 205 75r14. Any know if this will work?

Re: passenger doors jammed?

My 88' does that from time to time, just have to manually move the lock mechanism and work it a few times. I should just grease it but I'm lazy. Welcome by the way!

Ford isn't quite the dark side, Toyota on the other hand..... :poke: Anyways, beautiful bird! I've got a thing for the square one's of the 86-88 vintage. Grew up watching Bob Glidden tear up pro stock in one of those.

I'd say if not AC Delco, than definitely MOOG. Haven't heard at all that MOOG is cheapening there product, still a safe bet.

Re: Transmission Issues

Would have to do a back pressure test or watch the O2 sensor readings for the cat although that can be inconclusive.

Trembling how? Like shaking? By the way, please don't rev the snot out of it in park like that, rapping the motor like that unloaded is not good for the health.

Re: Transmission Issues

Could be the pressure control solenoid, I know that is one fail point of this transmission. Usually it'll leave a hidden code that only a Tech2 can read.

Re: Transmission Issues

Is the check engine light on? I'd doubt it as there is "hidden" transmission codes but it's worth asking. First place I'd start is checking the transmission fluid and make sure that is where it should be.

I don't have an Aero force... but In any case, a club member plugged in his scan tool and was monitoring while I drove. He says I am running rich according to the long term fuel trim. Where should I start?

I just cleaned and resprayed my k &n maybe 5k ago before I installed the fwi that I got used ...
