Re: Heater A/C blower motor
There is an original foil / matting heat shield but it only goes up to the bottom of the composite plastic cover (we bought the car new so to my knowledge there never was a shield between the cover and the exhaust.

Re: Heater A/C blower motor
Strut bar & bracket came off quickly, power unplugged, 5 screws and bam the blower motor is out. However the plastic composite housing/cover came apart (3 to 4 pieces). Could not find one at a local auto recycling yard so tomorrow (Monday) to the dealer I go.

Re: Heater A/C blower motor
I would assume it's the same as on my '94. Accessed from the engine compartment. Relatively easy to change out in less than an hour.

Heater A/C blower motor
Blower motor is starting to squeal upon starting the car (96 Bonneville SE) first thing in the morning.
Is the blower motor accessed from inside the car or from the cowl?? Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Re: Strange humming noise!
Don't wait too long to determine the cause of the noise. If it is the fuel pump (inside the gas tank) and it requires multiple start attemps before the engine starts it will not be long before the pump will fail completely leaving you stranded. Good luck.

A/C compressor replacement - question
When A/C is off (1996 Bonneville SE non SC) compressor pulley makes noise and I see sparks coming off, I quit driving the car. When A/C is on mag clutch locks up and noise and sparks go away. I plan on replacing the compressor (been making noise also) and mag clutch.

Re: Starting AC brings the Check Engine light
Just a thought - could what you are saying is "lost compression" - being caused whent the A/C compressor mag clutch engages?? This could mean the magnetic clutch is going bad or the compressor is getting ready to lock up. Have some one sit in the car while you stand to the passenger/left side of the ...

I changed the serpentine belt and the thermostat; got rid of the CoolDex – went to the green anti-freeze.

Re: Siphon gas and drop the tank
don't know if you removed the exhaust for a reason, it is just that you don't have to to remove the tank. At the most, you just need to remove the brackets at the tips and swing the whole assembly to the side a little.

Re: Siphon gas and drop the tank
i would remove the filler tube. had to do this myself , actually was pretty easy, just remove the screws holding the fuel cap ,then there is a bracket on the filler tube hard line. then loosen clamp and pull off of tank then you have direct access to fuel to siphon

Thanks for the come back, looks like I can disconnect the tank and drop it using a board on top of a floor jack.

I know the last post was on my birthday in may but here are my thoughts anyway -
Two things to consider: 1. Check to see what temp the T-stat for your car should be; I believe most cars run 195 Degree not 180. 2. Running too cold a T-stat will result in the car burning more gas that normal. 3. (i ...

Any one have any advice on replacing the water pump? Things to look for?

Re: 99 SLE makes coolant disappear!
Sounds like a leak or a combination of leak and a leak into the combustion chamber. A cooling system pressure test will help determine. The water pump could be leaking the coolant and may not be evident because of evaporation before it drips / puddles on the floor/ground.
