Re: Power Log Header and Crossover Pipe?

FWIW, I had a SLIGHTLY blip of a power increase going with the PLOG. I dont like how it discolored and pitted up, but its whatever... I noticed more gain with the ZZP downpipe and dynomax exhaust than with the PLOG. Every little bit helps - and for the price you cant beat it. My .02 cents -Ben

From the reading/what Ive been hearing from other people they've boasted 9-10PSI on a 3.4 pulley with similar/less mods. So really I would I benifit more from 4* extra timing than 4-5PSI boost? Still new to the supercharged lifestyle.... :helpsmilie:

Re: Low boost for a 3.4?

The BBV (aka the wastegate? :dontknow: ) wasnt moving originally when I put the motor together, so I replaced it. Seems to be moving freely now. Should it be adjusted all the way up or down with the slider bolt holes? Im running the VS cam from ZZP with 1.7 aluminum rockers, 105springs and ls7 ...

Low boost for a 3.4?

So, after my awful track debut with my 97 SSEI, Ive been trying to brainstorm and trouble shoot why its been running so slow. I came to find out that apparently stock boost with the stock pulley is around 6psi and that with my 3.4 should be somewhere in the 9-10 range for boost pressure. Im at a ...

Re: TR8 plugs - now rough idle?

Prolly will get the TR6 plugs this comming payday then. Is there anyone near 46516 who tunes these cars? I just keep going back to my 1/4 mile runs last friday and it makes me sick to even look at (let alone drive) my ssei atm... :(

Re: TR8 plugs - now rough idle?

No the NGK TR8 plugs. Does MSD make wires for our cars? Thats what I run on my GN and Turbo T and I love them. Never have issues with them ever when Im changing plugs. Whats wrong with the ZZP wires?

TR8 plugs - now rough idle?

Swapped out the AC Delco plugs for the TR8 plugs today. Car started easier, drove nicer and seemed to have more response - especially rolling into the throttle. At idle though I noticed it has a almost miss to it? As in, it will run like "mmmmmmmmmm bof! mmmmmmmmm bof! mmmmmmmmm bof!" at idle, but ...

Yes. I 2nd this. Great aftermarket for them, great support, and solid motors. I own 2 vehicles currently LC2 powered (85 GN and 87 Turbo T) and nothing beats that turbo rush! ;)

Re: 1st time at the track with the bonnie!

Maybe not so much the wires, but the AC Delco OEM plugs may be burning too hot and cause a bit of knock? :dontknow: They are in need of change anyhow, so Im going to grab a set of the TR8 plugs and give those a whirl. Dyna matting the trans in a few minutes followed by a good bath - having track ...

Re: 1st time at the track with the bonnie!

Both ET and MPH are very weak for the mods, how hot was it outside?

My '03 ran a 14.42 @ 94 basically bone stock with over 130,000 miles on the clock.

My dash's outside temp display read 99* outside - not sure how accurate those temp gauges are, but it was pretty hot. Granted, Im still re ...

Re: 1st time at the track with the bonnie!

If he is running the stock computer with all those mods I can only assume that the ECM is completely lost and has no idea whats going on under the hood. Thats a lot of changes on a stock tune.

You can get a bluetooth scan tool from amazon and the torque app on your phone for around 20 bucks ...

Re: 1st time at the track with the bonnie!

Do you have a way to scan for knock? KR can reduce power if you are getting a lot of knock. Did you do all the mods yourself or did it come with these mods?

Had the mods done by various shops around town. I dont have a scan tool for the newer 3.8 stuff like this, so no real way of knowing.... I ...

Re: 1st time at the track with the bonnie!

Judging from the responses, my SSEI is a turd. Soooo I need to break down and have someone go through the car and run a nicer tune on it.... does ZZPerformance tune? Or...maybe someone closer to the 46516 area? -Ben

Re: 1st time at the track with the bonnie!

That seems kinda slow, hopefully it was the heat that caused it to be down on power. My old 96 SSEi did a 15.1 and all I had was a homemade downpipe and an Intense FWI. Also the MSD coils are not necessary, the stock coils are plenty.

:( I Believe the 15.7 E/T was what the 97 SSEI ran from the ...

1st time at the track with the bonnie!

I gotta admit, with all the work Ive had done to the SSEI, I was kinda expecting a better run or two...

Best E/T was a 15.7 @ 90MPH with a 2.32 60ft time. Slowest pass (Im assuming it was getting slower and slower due to heat soak) was a 16.05@87MPH with a 2.44 60ft time. Mods to the car are ...

Re: Tachometer on the fritz?

Tach usually acts up when there is a crank position sensor issue, but if the car isn't shutting down or struggling to run, then you might just have a wonky tach needle.

After its warm/hot, I noticed if I stop to say go to grocery store, pay bill, etc. and try to start it 10-15min later, when I ...

Tachometer on the fritz?

Have a 97 bonneville SSEI with a motor out of a 98 GTP. I put the ZZPerformance power log on the other day, and while I was installing it accidentally cracked the coolant temp sensor comming out of the lower intake manifold. Grabbed a new sensor, and it seems to read fine but ever since installing ...

What do you think about how this sounds? Currently just have the ZZP 3in downpipe hooked to the stock exhaust, but Im thinkin I want much louder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfo7F4mUy-M&list=UUsmR0jiPHXEdgET16X3HY-Q
