Re: Bonneville SSEI stalling occasionally @ lights- while mo
Changed out three items, and the stalling is now RESOLVED:
1) New FPR
2) New set of Vacuum Lines

3) New Crankshaft Sensor
Thanks for the help!

Re: 98 SSEi dreaded P0300 after changing FPR and vacuum line
Cased closed (for now). The misfiring gradually improved with driving. After about 30 miles on the highway, punching it a few times, the P0300 cleared, and no more misfiring. Maybe the new FPR was sticky? In any case I'll be watching it.

Re: 98 SSEi dreaded P0300 after changing FPR and vacuum line
Thanks for the advice.
One question: does the fact that the misfiring only happens at high RPMs point toward any particular cause? The idle is smooth and firing performance under 4500 Rpms is good.

98 SSEi dreaded P0300 after changing FPR and vacuum lines
The Original Problem was intermittent stalling while coasting to a stop. Stalling was not bad, only happened twice, but wanted to clear it up.
Prior to troubleshooting Engine and Supercharger WERE working great, no misfires.

Re: What is with these replacement parts?
My 92 Bonne SSE went through 3 Alternator's in 189K miles - all GM factory eq, installed by Dealer. So far so good on my 98 SSEi, but have only had it 18 months (also no discernible light dimming on the 98 like I had in the 92). It would be interesting to know if there were any substantial design ...

Re: What is with these replacement parts?
I had a similar experience. I had a 1992 Bonne SSE, that I bought new, and ran through 3 Alternators in its 189k miles, 12 year life span in my household. My sense is there is/was an electrical system design flaw. There was always some quirky light dimming when the blower fan fan was turned on and ...

Re: Bonneville SSEI stalling occasionally @ lights- while mo
MKMike,
Thanks. Can you provide a little more detail or a how to reference on this recommendation?:
==> "To rule out the CPS, you can hook up a scan tool and see if the RPMs display when the engine is cranking. If the display shows RPMs, then the CPS is not preventing the engine from starting."

Re: Bonneville SSEI stalling occasionally @ lights- while mo
I bought it from the original owners (Denver Colorado) in July 2014. Previous owners were a retired couple who bought it new, and had it serviced at dealers. They were not hands-on mechanics. Carfax shows regular maintence record from 1998 - 2014, with "recommended maintenance performed," but does ...

Thanks for the assitance, and per advice, will start this new thread.

Re: Anyone had their Bonne stall on them while moving?
I checked the ICM connecter last night. Connection is clean and all the prongs are snug. Today I installed a new FPR (BWD 23045P) and haven't noticed any further issues yet. Fires up nice and smooth.

Re: Stalling at lights, and will start after numberous trys
Thanks, will do that.
Also to clarify the symptoms, stalling only happened **while decelerating**, approaching the traffic light. Never stalls at idle.

Re: Stalling at lights, and will start after numberous trys
My 98 SSEI (81k miles) has stalled a couple of times at lights (both times were during 40 degree damp weather). Both times it started back up with no problem.

Certainly true, and will do that replacement for sure. But certainly nice to have this Bonneville forum like this that saved me hours of troubleshooting in the middle of a hot sticky Maryland day!

This worked for me ! "open your hood and take a stick and tap the blower motor housing (give it a good rap...you'll need to hit it hard enough to shake the motor inside)...this should get it going again."

Re: 1998 SSEI History of "Electrical System Checked" Concern
I was able to find the original one owner for this. Seems the "electrical" checks were for an after-market On-Star system. Once they disconnected the On-Star, all is good.

Did you ever resolve this flickering problem? I just bought a 98 SSEI, and have similar problem, but only the right side of the dash.
Thanks

Re: 1998 SSEI History of "Electrical System Checked" Concern
Thanks.. I saw similar advice about the Ground Bus bars on other web forum posts about the 98 SSEI. No explicit indication of "Customer complaint", but it happened 5 times in service records from 2002-2006. At one point is lists: "Left tail light assembly replaced." Then in 2006 its seems to have ...
