So I went out and bought the liquid claybar and liquid synthetic polish.
This morning after 6 hours of rain, I wiped Da Pearl down and started to apply the claybar product. I used the sponge as recommended but followed up with a 4" orbital sponge. I went body panel by body panel. This took a long time and this product will dry and leave water marks if not rinsed quickly. I used my 7 year old as a constant supply of clean rinse water as she manned the hose and sprayed the car off as I moved to the next panel. This took about 1.5 hours as I did it twice to make sure I got a deep cleaning in.

What I noticed when done was that the water no longer beaded on the finish. It was also much cleaner as it had a natural shine that was not there with the layers of old wax. The finish before the claybar product looked hazy without a fresh coat of wax.

I then towel dried the car and waited a half hour for any drips to stop. Then I got out the ICE polish and followed the directions and covered the car in a coat of ICE. This product I did not enjoy using. For one it said it would dry to a light haze. NOPE. It was like wiping Armour-all on your car. It just smeared and smeared. I tried a buffer. Bad idea, it does not help. So how do you get the ICE to shine?
With a ton of wiping with the special tack cloth provided. Then go over the car with a slightly damp(almost dry) Terri cloth towel and remove any streaks. Then go over the car with a clean T-shirt and remove any films you might see at angles. This was a pain in the a$$ to remove!
However, the shine is amazing!

Let Da Pearl tell the story...

I am used to using Meguires liquid wax and then buffing on and off with an orbital.
The shine from Meguires is not as shiny as this ICE product.
With that said, for me it was much more work because I had to do most of the work by hand rather than with an orbital buffer.
Because of the results, I may keep using the ICE treatments. The real deciding factor will be durability. How long will it shine?
Time will tell and I will let everyone know!

Share your ICE experiences here also!

I've tried that ICE stuff before and I don't know if I wasn't doing it right or what but I could not get it to turn out to save my life....

Car does look awesome though :)

yea i waited an hour for the polish to haze once it just never dose and getting it off sucks but it looks nice, the clay bar is nice though easy to use and gets the job done. the ICE car wash is pretty good too. and i use the ICE detail spray in between washes and it works well also. Looks good though man.

Wow, that turned out amazing! I had the similar experience with ICE and I think you summed it up well by saying it was like wiping Armour All off the car. I wasn't impressed with it one bit! I noticed after I washed the car after Icing, it helped. It did not dry to a haze for me either.

Again, your car looks awesome! The black and gold combination is sweet!

Adam
