Ok I saw a long post kind of about doing this, but it never mentioned what kind of paint to use? I want to paint some of the the pieces on my door panels. Like the part around the door handle, window switches, around the vents, ect. I want to do them black because my interior is the tan color most Bonnevilles are inside. Saw pictures of a guy who did it to his Bonneville once on the GM Forum, but never saved the directions. Anyone done this?

To be completely honest, if you want them black, talk to harofreak00. He likely has everything you want in the black color you could snag up for a good price. Painting them would work, but then over time the paint would scratch or peel in some places.

If you are dead set on painting them, I repainted some of the interior in my Cutlass (previous owner painted it a HIDEOUS gloss blue) black using some Dupli-Color vinyl and fabric paint that is available at pretty much any auto parts stores as well as WalMart and Meijer. I have also heard some very good things about the SEM interior paint.

I love SEM paint. It adheres excellently, and if sprayed correctly will wear like it's original.

It would be gray Ryan. You'd want a Dupli-color dye, not just a paint. Paint won't stick like a dye will. I don't think that black on the tan interior would look good though. The GXP Carbon Fiber looks great, but it's gray/brown, not black.

If you still want to do it, you'll want to follow the directions on the can and remember that the more time you spend preparing it, the better it will look.

You're kidding right? Black car with parts of the interior dash panels and door handles painted black over tan interior will look sweet. Seen it done before inside a Bonneville with tan interior. I'm all about the black :) Pics will come after i finish it and it will look awesome!!

I guess it depends on which parts you do black, but if you did the vents, etc. all black, I think it would look really bad. I'll wait to see the end product to make a judgment, however.

My Saab has black/light light tan (or parchment in SAAB speak) color combo, I like it, it looks nice.

It will be the trim around the vents, door handles, window switches, ect. Not the actual vents themselves no.

I was actually just about to use your car as an example lol. black and tan interiors are in a lot of cars and look good.

However, I believe Cody's car has a black dash, carpet console and tannish-white seats. This will be black accents, which I can't picture looking good in my imagination. However, if she wants to do this in her car, go for it. To each their own, and we'll see her on the other side.
