Hello,

I need new rear shocks, however I don't want air shocks.

Is there a direct replacement to eliminate air?

If so, do I need to disconnect air pump?

Thanks

OEM are a gas shock with air assist, meaning the air portion is only for the "load leveling".

There are coil over options, but they are garbage in my option. I have personally installed 100's of the Monroe MA822's with no complaints. Why don't you want air shocks?

I always have issues with the air fittings.

It's probably just me.

I'll order the air shocks.

Thanks

The plastic fittings are hard to remove from rusty connections yes.

The best way that I've found is to start by covering the whole fitting in penetrating oil, then remove the clip and used a pliers to wiggle the plastic back and forth until lose. Slide it down the plastic line and out of the way. You are then against the two 1/8" o-rings. I use a small pick to dig them out, ok to damage as long as you have $.50 replacements from the hardware store. After you dig the 2 o-rings out, the plastic line will easily pop out. Clean out any existing rust in the plastic fitting, install 2 new o-rings on the line and put the fitting back together and pop onto the new shock.

I've had the Monroe's listed by Andrew above for over 60k miles now and they are finally getting tired. I went through 3 sets of air shocks before I was done dealing with leaks and constantly running pump. The Monroe's ride well enough for me and they're stress free.
