I recently cleaned out my car and found my #2 remote for my car. It had stopped working long ago, but I just started using the #1 remote instead. Well, I recently lost the #1 remote. I took the back off of the #2 remote and found the battery holder had come lose. I found several videos on how to solder this back on. I did this and tested it and I now have voltage where I should have voltage and everything looks good, but the remote is not working. Is there something I need to do to make it work again? Should it automatically recognize it and start working agian?
The numbers on the back of mine are: GM/LEAR 25695955 FCCID KOBLEAR 1XT
Two questions: First, if one of you guys has one of these for sale, will I have to go to a dealership to get it activated? And, do any of the universal remotes work for these '01 cars?

Thanks

In the past , yes, the dealership or a locksmith were your only answers to remote programming.
See my post here for more info http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/2000-2005-other-than-gxp/topic47225.html

No ideas on the specifics of repairing your fobs circuitry but the Dorman product worked great for me.

That's great! Thanks! RockAuto has by far the best price. Don't we get a discount with those guys? Do we have a special code to use or something?
Thanks for the info MK!

RockAuto is where I bought mine--like so many of the parts that I need.
Their prices are typically the best.
I like that we get a discount as forum members.
Here's the link to the latest one in the Vendor's Forum http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/vendor-s-forum/topic46766.html
If you tend to lose fobs, it would pay to buy extras now, rather than using up your additional sessions on the programmer in a short timespan.
I programmed 4 at once, since my better half tends to lose keys.
