So my job relocated me to Tel Aviv Israel for a few years and I took the 02 SSEI with us. This car has never been driven in the winter so I thought it would be great to take it with us. Before I shipped it I put on new tires, battery, brakes, coolant, oil, trans flush and anything else that I could do back in the U.S. We just got the car last weekend and we took it on a drive down to the Dead Sea. We stopped to take some pics, got back into the car and no start, but we had power. The Dead Sea is out in no mans land and my wife is asking me if everything is ok, it was only 103 deg outside. I told her the car wouldn't start and give me a minute to access the situation. I thought I may have violated the security system in some way, so I locked and unlocked the doors and tried again It fired right up and we have not had any more problems until today. We started to head of town and we turned back because we forgot something at the house. I parked the car and shut it off while my wife ran inside the house. She comes back and I try to start the car and it wouldn't start, but this time nothing. I ran up to get my manuals and found my security system worked as it should and tried the spare key. No luck. Anything else needed a Tech II to verify the system. I got on the club site and start searching for help and the only good hit was a bad starter. So I told my wife I'm going to pull the starter and see what we have. I got the starter out and performed a shade tree test at the battery and it worked, there wasn't anything loose or corroded. So now I'm thinking tow bill and have to pay a dealer time to diagnosis what is wrong. So I put the starter back in and tell my wife what the heck give it a try. *dang* thing started right up and did 5 times after that. I'll have our son back home get a new starter and ship it to us. Are you hearing any noises when turning the key and it doesn't start? If the starter spins on the battery, would expect some noise from it when energized mounted. At least a click even if it doesn't turn/spin.

It is/was a bad starter. Before I got the replacement from our son, if you tapped on the starter it fired right up.
