So apparently my 0-60 time (found in signature) is slow :bs: :-$ , so a fellow bonneville member has advised to me... I'm not quite sure what could be so slow about it considering it's a v6 3.8L 3800 Series II engine, but on top of that all of the modifications can be found on the website (also on my signature) i'm too lazy to type them all out so just go to the youtube site and read the description, all modifications were bought at an after market (Auto Toyz) store, they were not ebayed. Any suggestions please tell me

Yeah, that's pretty bad. You should be pulling a 8.5-8.8 with the 3.05 ratio in good running condition. Something is definitely wrong.

Any Check engine light?
Is the idle rough?
Is the car hard to start when the engine is cold?
Does your cat converter get extremely hot, maybe to the point where it's glowing?
When was the last tune up done? If you don't know, get it done. NGK, ACDelco, or Autolite plugs are recommended, and Napa Belden "Blue" wires or AcDelco wires are the most common choice. Also do your PCV valve and fuel filter.

There are so many factors in making a car run slow, this is just a few of them. For example, I just replaced my EGR tube about 2 months ago, it had a very small crack in it, and WHAM-O, I shed two tenths of a second off my 0-60 times, now around 7.4, which is far better than stock and I only have a FWI and a high-flow cat. Aside from the fact that my manifolds have cracks in them, I am still pulling pretty good times.

My videos can be found below, I am running about 8-9 seconds in 0-60. (3,446 curb weight of yours compared to the 3,590 of mine) Yes, I have the 3.05 gear ratio as well.

http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=JBMark33&p=r

I believe I ran 8 seconds on the video shot from the passenger seat.

My car has everything tuned up, only performance mod is the ricer intake which I need to build a heat shield for.

that's definitely a bit slow. I haven't been to a track or anything but I've counted about 8 seconds from 0-60 in my 98 SE.

I'd say a good tune-up is in order. Spark plugs & wires (get GM's wires), fuel filter, PCV, check air filter, check your ignition coils (check the techinfo link on top of website), clean your MAF, make sure you have a MAF screen, check your front O2 sensor (DO NOT buy Bosch sensor), make sure your O2 sensor wire isn't touching a spark plug wire, check for vacuum leaks, clean your battery wires where they connect, make sure your belt is snug, check your throttle position sensor (again check the techinfo link), check your catalytic converter, and also make sure your rear brakes are adjusted correctly. Basically you should go to the techinfo link and have at it. The only things I would blindly purchase without checking are the fuel filter, MAF cleaner spray, PCV, and spark plugs & wires because those are all relatively cheap. Everything else should be checked though.

The PCM may also be the issue though. I've read that some people's 'tuned' PCMs have actually made them slower. Some places tune for drivability and not for speed.

I have new spark plugs and wires (acdelco), the performance chip is said to increase horsepower up to 10 or 15 or whatever so that's 220 and then w/ the drop in k&n air filter that's suppose to increase like 2-3 more horsepower and with the top of the line oil i use that should increase maybe 1-2 horse, so 225 is a good estimation at where my horsepower is at. it's hard to find nice long straightaways in Iowa (hilly), but the road i did it on had a slight hill. So I don't really know. If it's costly to do all that stuff you said, i'm not even gonna bother lol...

i can try and find a 0-60 straightaway, but it'd probably be out in the country, can't find a road long enough w/o it having a dip or a big old hill.

Its ok, you can tell em it was me bothering you about it  I just don't like to see people have to deal with malfunctioning vehicles, especially if they don't know!

As I, and others mentioned before, if you're making 225, you'd be seeing sub 8 second 0-60 times.

Finding a long enough road shouldn't be a problem. The video I pm'ed you a while back, that was a VERY short amount of area, didn't take long.

I'd post it again for S&G, but even my time of 9.5 was horrible. That car wasn't in tip top shape per se...and that's precisely why I wonder why yours is even further slow...and its well taken care of in comparison.

Umm, I don't know but it is NA and only has 240 ft-lbs

I would think that 8 - 9 seconds would be about right.

Nice that it gets right up to 6000 rpm shifts. That can't be stock.

It was a video of my old '98 SE, not the 93.

Engage S&G here.

And you absolutely have to be faster than a 170hp stock L27

The 98 was better than the 93 and about 1 sec quicker. Nice little squeal on take off.

The 93 ran about 11 sec to 60 which was the same as my old Pontiac with a 250 straight six than would not rev more than 4500 rpm.
Even a 4 cylinder 74 Pinto would beat it at 10 sec 0-60.
:laughing3:

Notice how much higher the 98 shifted than the 93.

Here is the deal... The L27 3800 Series I was forced to shift at 5200, it had a red line of 5600 but for what ever reason Gm shifted it at 5200.. If you hit 5600 where the fuel cut off is, then there is a problem...lol

On the 1995 L36, GM let it shift 5950( 6200 Fuel Cut Off ) 1-2 and 5750 2-3...

Strange part was that for 1996+ GM forced the trans to shift 5750 1-2 and I believe 5750 2-3...

Ok i did it, the first 0-60 was 12, the second one i did was 11ish, and then the third one i did was 10 seconds, and i did every one of them different.
1st - 0-60 (D) = 12 seconds
2nd - (1) to 20 - (2) to 30 - (3) to 40 - (D) to 60 = 11 seconds
3rd - (1) to 30 - (2) to 40 - (3) to 50 - (D) to 60 = 10 seconds

It all depends on how I shifted it seems, it's an automatic though, sooo...??? comments after this please!
