I have a 1991 bonneville 3800, if i start it it will run for about 5 minutes then die out and it wont start back up, but if you let it sit for a few hours it will fire back up like nothings wrong and die back out after a few minutes again, it is throughing a cam senser but i talk to a few guys they said that it should still run, and it is running really rich also

Do you have any codes? You mentioned the cam sensor fault. Try reading the codes right after it stalls and the again after it refires.

Yeup, we need codes. And the cam sensor can cause the engine to stall.

What it sounds like is that an electronics part is going out when it reaches operating temperatures. The most common parts are the crank sensor, coils, or ICM.

Year and Trim: 1988 sse - 80,000 on the clock and my first car...

1995 se wit da sle package- 120,000 on the clock and ticking stronger then ever...
could also be a mass air flow sensor that is located on the throttle body.. when you get the car started and running then while its running then unplug the clip that goes into your mass air flow sensor.

if the car stays running then its your maf.. if it still shuts off then it could be a bad coil pack or icm like stated above..

What? These cars will idle without the MAF.. If you disconnected it and gave it a rev it will stall out when the RPM's come back down as the ECM has no clue that the air flow into the engine has dropped to nothing indicating Idle..

So I will say this ... These Bonneville( 1991 for Certain ) Will idle without the MAF..

A Cam sensor circuit issue can cause a stall situation... But that would be rare... These engines will run without the cam sensor, but there will be a time or 2 in there where that car would run like garbage... If that happens you shut it off and restart, Chances are the fueling will be better and the car will run and drive better..

This problem to me sounds a lot like a Bad Crank Sensor or Possible ICM issue.. Even the ECM could be a fault for this..

Need to see if the ECM has any stored codes first before you go any further..

My guess would be the crankshaft sensor or a bad coil pack.

We had a crank sensor do similar things to.
It would just die when driving along all of a sudden. Sit for a while & then it'd start up & go, ..., sometimes, ..., Sometimes it would require a few hours, sometimes a few minutes, & a couple times an overnight.

Check'em both.
