I know it is quad module driver A failure. Which are the sensors handled by quad A? TPS? Coolant temp?
The whole story behind this started a couple of years ago with the idle rpm going up on it's own with no apparent reason. The only way to make it normal was to turn the engine off and start it again.
Over the time I changed several IAC's, TPS's and even ECM's. No result. I recently checked and replaced all rubber vacuum connections to eliminate all possible leaks, disconnected the Cruise cable so that one isn't pulling the throttle, no result. I am using Tuner Pro RT to get what is ECM seeing from sensors and the only thing is that TPS% and TPS Volts are high corresponding to the increased unwanted idle.
Sometimes I was getting code 22 at idle, and recently I am getting code 26 when accelerating and the engine is not up to normal temperature. Since I changed almost everything I made a new wire harness for the TPS and the CTS (I realized that they share a sensor ground). Although the idle doesn't appear to go up anymore (although I didn't drive it enough to be conclusive) I am still getting code 26 under acceleration and low temp. All of this is directing me to change the CTS even though the Tuner Pro shows the temperature OK.
What is quad A driving?
On a separate note, after seeing on this forum that everybody is so happy with changing the Magnavox to the Delco I tried it too. After changing a dozen ICU's and coils from car heaven I had to return to my old Magnavox. The engine was misfiring under heavy acceleration. Recently I got new wires, new Delco ICU and new coils yet the car is still misfiring (I can hear isolated explosions in the exhaust confirming that the fuel mixture left the cylinder without having a spark) under heavy acceleration ONLY when the engine temp is up. If the engine is cold the ICU works without missing a beat. This also directs me in the Coolant Temperature Sensor direction.
Anybody knows what is in this quad A?

Thank you

The service manual shows the hot temp light, canister purge solenoid, low fan relay, and TCC solenoid. The one QDM symptom I'm seeing that makes the most sense is "Poor driveability due to 100% canister purge".

While the TCC solenoid could make sense during accelleration, it wouldn't explain the isolated backfiring you are hearing. Try disconnecting the vacuum lines from the charcoal canister under the air filter box and plugging them to prevent a large vacuum leak. Then see if your issue (other than the code 26) goes away.

The canister connector was not fully in. Also it appears that the idle rpm is normal so far.
I am left with the biggest puzzle. Why my car won't accept the Delco ICU. It still misfires under acceleration and warm engine. Maybe I need a different ECM memory? Anybody knows?

ICU = Intense Care Unit.
ICM = Ignition Control Module.
Did the Delco ICM come off of a 3800?

This last ICM was new. All the others that I tried were only from 3.8. What puzzles me is that it misfires (fires erratically) only under (heavy) acceleration and with the engine warmed up. If the engine is cold it runs great. Yesterday I installed the Magnavox back and the engine runs normal although I can feel that the acceleration is not as strong as with the Delco (when cold). I've been told before and I know that "If it aint broke don't fix it" but I am frustrated that everybody is so happy with Delco and I can not make mine to work. Do I have a freak car, is there maybe a different ECM memory that I need?
I actually have a reason to change the Magnavox, it's old and the tach looses the signal intermittently.

Thanks

Try this:
Remove the ICM & mounting plate.
Clean the top of the mounting bracket & both sides of the mounting plate with a wire brush. You need to remove any & all corrosion from these three surfaces. Coat all three surfaces with a light coat of dielectric grease & reassemble.

You don't need a new ECM EPROM (the memory chip). It is plug-it-in-and-go type thing.
