Computers do care when it's 8 degrees outside. I got a P0128 code today with my 180* Thermostat. NBD, cleared it with my aeroforce. The computer sees that the car is taking a long time to heat up and throws the code because it doesn't know why.
i got this code a couple days ago with a stock t-stat and that is what made me think about a lower temp t-stat throwing a code. with mods like rockers, doesnt the pcm think there are mis-fires and other events the stock pcm doesnt like and hence throw codes inproperly for the mods? is this why some people disable some codes?
With HPT, you buy credits either for a specific car, IE your 1997 Bonneville SSEi VIN:XXX... or buy an entire model year, IE: all 1997 Bonneville's. Once you have the credits, you can tune as many times as you want. The software comes with 8 credits I believe, and for one GM V6 car it's 2 credits, and for a model year I think it's 4 credits, but I'm not 100% sure on that.
is the hp tuner the way to go or are other tuners "better"? does the hp's $150 "pro" option buy any advantage for a single car guy like me?
thanks,
