I know that most ANY transmission has inherent problems from the factory.

My question revolves around the subject matter.... 4T60e..... What known problems are there that can be corrected with a shift kit or other modifications? I know also this transmission was in a variety of vehicles.... Cadillac, Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile.

I am looking to help a friend because their transmission went bad and I have no idea why. His daughter said that she was driving the car and it just quit. I don't have a line pressure gauge too tap into the trans with. Maybe it's as simple as the forward band having broken. and there's no noises from it either. This is in the wrong forum when i say the vehicle this transmission is in is a 1995 sedan deville, but since this trans was used widely, i hope someone can chime in and help me out, for the sake of my friend's daughter. They are going through enough turmoil as it is.
