If you do not have the PCM set for the 160 T-Stat you'll throw codes...

At the lest until the PCM is flashed you should run a 180 and even then it may still throw codes..

Replacement is simple... There are only 2 bolts and one rubber seal around the thermostat

Follow your top Radiator line and it will lead you to the housing. Take off the 2 bolts, lift the housing and there it will be.

A 180 will not throw codes. It is a nice kick in the pants around town.

In the more emissions friendly and strictly controlled cars it can and will set a code.. If the thermostat hangs open a little long and the engine cools below the threshold the PCM wants to see or if the Thermostat open early codes can be set... I have dealt with and erased codes for this issue on the OBD2 cars... Right now with the warmer weather this may not be an issue.. But for the cooler months it can become a problem

The Older OBD1 and OBD1.5 don't generally care as long as you are above a set temperature..

I am running the 180 in my 2k and it throws the code for coolant not up to set point when the outside temp is around 35 degrees.
