when im accelerating, going through the gears. when it shifts into 4th the rpm goes up a bit then shifts into overdrive, almost sounds like its slipping a little bit. Ive read something about these trannys losing overdrive...but i REALLY hope im not gonna be having to buy a tranny

I have the same problem with my trans. It actually could be your torque converter or TCC clutch getting tired. I would drop the pan, and change the trans filter & fluid. Do that & it should last a while, but I would start saving for a rebuild or replacement. When was the last time the fluid was changed?

EDIT: Another thing you can do to prolong your life of overdrive is to drive in 3rd gear when you in the city or when your going under 50. On the highway if you have to make a pass, drop to 3rd.

When you lose OD it will just dissappear. The shaft that engages OD is splined, and the splines wear off after time, especially if there is a lot of WOT shocks before it can downshift to 3rd.

My suggestion is to do a pan drop and filter change with a good quality Dextron III fluid (Some here recommend Valvoline Max-Life) and save up for a new trans. A quart of Lucas Trans-Fix might help some, but don't waste your money on Trick Shift or some other high dollar fluid.

Another thing that might help extend the life is when you want to go WOT on the highway you shift into 3rd before jumping on it.

ended up changing the trans fluid about a week ago, and it seemed a lil bit better.

Another problem..yesterday morning drove the car and it seemed fine. Drove it in the afternoon and it felt like it was slipping at every single gear shift. i never had that problem before, could it be the pcs? or time for a trans? :(

also, i could smell hot trans fluid too, but i didnt see any leaks

okay so i decided to manually shift it into each gear while i was taking off normally. it shifted normally when i did that. and now when i put it in drive and let it shift automatically its back to normal. what the hell could that be?? could it have anything to do with disconnecting my battery the day before?

All the shift parameters would be back to stock, including shift pressures. Keep your fingers crossed.
