Haha, the fact that its still wet hides the horrible paint on the car. Im hoping to remedy that soon enough. Im one of the few people I know who like how the 1G Parks and Lesabres look. IDK what it is about them, I just like them. Im actually going to attempt to wire in the outside lights into the two inside brake lights so they all light up on braking.

Ugh...thats not something I wanted to see. *dang*. Well I guess for now I'll do a fluid and filter change and put some stop slip in her, hopefully that buys me enough time until the spring if Im nice and gentle with the gas. Then this spring I'll go ahead and put in a new tranny, maybe one out of a Grand Prix with better gears. Throw in a Trans Go and an Engineered Diff and call it a day.

I guess I'll be updating this thread quite a bit in the coming months as I get this car to a personally acceptable level, which is almost showroom nice. So far the car is driving great. Motor is finally all broken in nice and well and the first oil change was clean as a whistle. Going to do one more round of dino then switch to syn at 1500 miles and stay there every 3k miles. Unlike the previous owners, I've been properly feeding her 93 vs 87. The check engine light comes on every once and awhile but is very sporadic when it does and hasnt been on for close to 4 days now. I'd check it if it werent such a crappy system (OBD 1.5? really?) I have to find a Tech 1 somehwere....

I had a fairly significant leak in the passenger cabin. When I say "significant" I mean torrential. Without fail after every rain the floor pan where the back seat rests would be filled with water to the seat anchors in the front. So I had to spend alot of time mopping out the water and making sure it was all dry so mold or rust didnt start to form. The other day I finally got sick of trying to find this leak, so I started taking down the headliner (which tuned out to be covered in black mold from the water) and found out somebody had the sunroof drains unhooked. So the whole time water was going directly from the sunroof into the cabin. So I fixed that and took out the C pillar panels and headliner and chucked them, and Im currently hunting down proper replacements.

Another issue I fixed was one that I didnt even know I had until just a few days ago. 1G Parks have trunk pull down motors. That blew my mind. I love the one on my dad's IROC and and loved the one on my moms old 96 Deville. Sure enough I stripped back the carpet and there it was. I took it out, took it apart, cleaned it, regreased it and hooked it back up. Works like a charm. No more slamming the trunk shut. But thats about it for right now, Im sure I'll piss around with something else here during the course of next week so stay tuned, haha

I'll have to do that here soon. Its always irked me that you have these nice big tails, but only 2/3s of it lights up on braking. Honestly what I really want to do is throw sequentials on it. I think that would be cool.

I was trying to find a pic, but failed. The 3rd light is actually a single 194, that only comes on with the running lights, instead of the larger dual filament bulb in the other 2 positions. The only solution I have been able to come up with is replacing that socket with a different one (kind of barbaric, and opens yourself to problems if you don't do it right) or a full LED retrofit, not just a bulb drop. This would also open the door for your sequential setup you want. I have always wanted to throw about 4 of these in the reverse lights as well, 2 per side:

I am pretty sure they need heat-syncs because they are so big.

Suggestion: Get a second tail panel ($100 for regular PA, ultra likely more), then you can do an all-out build from the ground up. This would be great because you can get everything built, and lined up for a direct swap. Swap could be done within a couple of hours, minimizing downtime. Plus, you have a spare around for when something stupid happens (i.e., shopping cart).

I havent gotten around to taking the tails off yet. I didnt know the outsides were 194s, *dang* that sucks. They are fairly bright for 194s too, haha. Eh, I guess I'll just hold off on the tails for now. I know quite a few other places where my money can go first. I think youre the only other 1G Park I've seen on here so far, kind of nice Im not alone, haha.

Today I decided to finally tackle my tranny fluid and filter since It felt like the trans was getting considerably worse every week. I already know my roller clutch/ sprag assembly is on its way out, but I needed something to limp it along another 2-3 months until the roads are nice enough to get my other car back out and this one in the shop. I figured after seeing how neglected the rest of the car was, the tranny wouldnt be faring too much better and I was right.




And after I cleaned it out



It seems like fresh fluid did the trick. No more slipping under light throttle, the typical TC shudder is lessened significantly, the groaning noises coming form the tranny pump are gone and even the sprag has quietened down a bit. Slowly but surely she's coming back....

And honestly, 3,000 mile oil changes with synthetic is throwing perfectly good oil and cash away, especially with a brand new motor. You should be able to easily run double that with no problems at all.
