Holy crap. I'd be so mad. I am certainly glad your Dad is okay, but what a shame. Such a well taken care of car destroyed by some completely oblivious tool.

Ugh. I hope insurance covers him properly and he can get something else he will enjoy.

So Dad is still fighting with insurance on a settlement for the Buick (even though the other party is at 100% fault, and the other party admitted on a recorded line that he was 100% at fault, his insurance is trying to place dad 30% at fault, so dad's insurance is fighting back on that).

however, not being able to wait for that to play out, he got a replacement for the Buick yesterday. Not my cup of tea, but a solid choice for him. He settled on a 2016 Camry XSE. It's only the 2.5l, but it's perfect for what he needs, so he's out of the H-body gang for now. Hoping they'll make things right with his car given all the money that was dumped in it before the wreck, so I'll update this once we hear back on a final settlement. I'm not holding my breath for more than $2k lol, but dad is set on like a $5k number. Even with all the receipts from that work, that's dreaming for that car.

This reminds me of what happened to my dad several years ago.
His car was legally parked on the road and some guy ran into it.
He heard the crash and came out and the guy was still there.
Called the police and they made out a report that the other driver was at fault.
When the other guys insurance contacted my dad they said he was 20% wrong for being there.
They said if his car wasn't parked there it wouldn't been hit.
You would have to know my dad to hear what he told the insurance man.
He said talking about what ifs: If you dad wouldn't have meet your mother and FFFFF her you wouldn't be here and I wouldn't be talking to you right now!!!
That was his what if.
And you wonder why people get lawyers when dealing with insurance companies.
My brother in law still laughs when I tell that story.
My dad was something else.

I forgot to add that in the end the insurance company did pay 100% of the repairs to his car.
