I was in need of some ZEN time and had no $ to spend on mods, so I got some body work done and worked on my intake.

Image
Went through 3 pieces of plexiglass before I got the template right.
Image
Next is to fill area around intake tube and get some of that heat shield w/the sticky backing to go on the engine compartment side.
Image

I've had this wrinkle in the hood that has annoyed me since I bought the car. I think this is the best it is going to get.

The driver's door had a 6" dent in it, and Voila!

All work done by hand tools, body hammers, homemade sanding block, 5 lb. sledge, bondo and a lot of patience.

That's a heck of a bend in the intake pipe. If there is a way to put a gentle bend in it, and guide the filter element more towards the headlight, you might get more out of it.

The body work is coming along very nicely! Please keep this updated!

This is the hood.

this is the door.

Has anyone ever painted a car piece by piece with canned spray paint? I am thinking of doing this because I have cleaned out my garage and don't have the $$ to spend on a shop.

yeah, you can do it carefully with factory matched aresol paint and then aresol clearcoat. you may want to do several coats of the color with lots of wetsanding and everything, so make sure you know what you're doing, otherwise it'll really look bad.

It will never match exactly especially on a car that old, mine has faded considerably. the "correct" color does not matchl.

I don't want to match up the paint. I want to paint the whole car, one piece at a time; Hood, left front fender, left doors, back left 1/4 panel, etc., all with flat black and some metallic gold on the emblems, middle of the old school wheels(the ones b4 the honeycombs).

That air filter is very likely more restrictive than the factory airbox, and is probably hurting performance, not helping. What brand is it?

I believe the description on ebay was for k&n,but there was no logo on the box when I got it. I was a little suspicious, but only pd $25 for the whole setup. It seems to be better than the airbox, course that was 2 yrs ago. Is K&N the brand to get or is there something our cars like better? (Note:this is for info purposes only, as the title of the thread explains.)
