Same here. That has to be the cleanest engine I've ever seen in anything. Nice job!

Just came upon this post. How did you ever get the engine so clean? And the coolant overflow tank...no scale?

Lots of time, at first because the car had 36K on it when purchased and first owner did not clean, then every time I wash it just a little TLC. I use Armoral on all the plastic that way any debris that accumulates will just wipe away. I find that an air compressor and a good reaching air nozzle will get rid of alot of crap in the engine bay. Bug and Tar removers will get the painted areas of the bay clean again. If your engine is really bad take it to the car wash and use their engine degreaser it is powerful stuff, let it sit a few minuts and gently spray away. and the single most important thing for keeping it clean is making sure nothing leaks, any thing leaky will spread the mess everywhere!

The coolant tank was easy to get off. If I recall 10mm bolt, 1 plastic rivot, and the hose clamp on the overflow line. I pinched off the line and removed the tank, emptied the tank and filtered the coolant to put back in when the tank was clean, Your Choice or just put new coolant in. To clean the tank many people suggest simple green. What ever floats your boat, I also used a handfull of dime sized stones, smooth in nature, to help exfoliate the crud off of the inner walls in thoes hard to reach places. Just shake it arround until it is clean and rinse well. attatch every thing back to the vehicle and refill.
