Headlight restoration tonight. Had to start with 150 grit to get out the deep scratches. Ended with 2000 grit. Still a few fine scratches, but looks 100x better. It would look better if I used some professional polish and buffer, but I only have a powerball and scratch-x.

As my first post here on the Bonneville Club forum, I would like to bow to harofreak00 as he is obviously a Bonneville God. I have seen more of the guts of my 01 Bonny in this thread than I could have imagined. Thanks for the pics. The 01 seems virtually identical to your project car.

I spent 25 years as an equipment tech in the semiconductor industry which is the same parts as an automobile, just thrown together differently to perform a different function. Since those machines were all computer controlled, I had to have a degree in electronics to get the gig way back then. In short, I would like to offer any assistance I can to the other forum members here.

Right now, it looks like I may have a clock spring replacement to do, still checking it out though with the ohm meter.

Regards,

GregB

Today I fixed the door molding on the drivers door. It was coming off on the back side, so I used some 3M molding tape to put it back in place.

and then somehow, the 00 rims/tires ended up on the 03, and viceversa...

So now the 03 has the Pirelli PZero Nero's with 6/32nds of tread, and I have the General Altimax HP's with 8/32nds on my 00.

Andrew-
Your posts, all nicely documented with photos, are inspirational! Keep up the good work. =D>

One of these days I'll use your method to fix my broken heated drivers seat (not that it's very useful here in Texas :dontknow: ).

Based on that price, my car is worth less than it cost me to insure and fuel it for the year. :angry7:

No wonder GM went bankrupt. Their cars are worthless. Who in their right mind would want to pay $30 or 40 K for a new one. :eek2:

Can't we just stay on topic?

Paul, you are always dragging those kind of comments around this board. Most people buy cars to drive them. When you only put 1000 miles on a year, you are not getting a bang for your buck at all. GM's used car values are no different than Ford or Dodge. Check out this 03 Mercedes.

You are the only one on the forum that I know of that did.

THANK you for saying that.

If that car is better than yours, then why not take your motor/tranny out of your car and put it in the 03 and vice versa then sell the blue one.

The motor is stronger in the 03, at least the oil pressure shows.

However, with all the mods I've done to mine... I can't walk away... driving it into the ground.

I can not believe that car looks like that with that many miles.

But then again it's coming from Andrew what did I expect?

BTW. GREAT JOB!!

Had a very interested guy come look at it today. He pulled up in a black 99 SSE, and is looking for a replacement as his has 250k and it shows. We took it for a test drive and he fell in love. He is headed to the bank right now to look into the loan, said he would let me know this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

What do you say when people ask why you are selling?

Buy cheap, fix problems, resell? (aka, the truth) Or do you make up an interesting story, just because you can?
