Stance and wheel choice look perfect IMO, nice work.

Flush does not equal poke. I would figure a VW guy would know that...

Good wheel fitment does not equal Euro. And my car isn't even dumped? I can still run over small children with the amount of ground clearance I have.

The car came with 16" x-laces. I now have 18" x-laces. It's not my fault a ton of "euro" guys are running around w/ regular RS'.

I guess my car is trying to be Japanese? Someone in Japan ran my Super RS' before me.

I see what you're getting at but it's a far stretch with a weak argument.

Tell me it looks bad, you don't like it, it's not what you would do, not your style, w/e. Don't tell me I'm trying to be something I'm not. If I wanted to be euro I'd be scraping frame everywhere, wheels sticking out a half a foot from the fenders, with 205 tires on a 9" rim, roof rack, euro license plate, etc. etc.

To me what you've done is "euro". At least in the circles i'm in, this is exactly how "euro" builds go. I guess poke wasn't the correct word i was trying to say.. I'm certainly not dissing it or the work, you've definitely done your homework and put consideration into what fitments will be best for the H body. Things I always wanted to do, but didn't have the money or patience/time for really.

You've been the first to really do any of this in this club, let alone all of it. It's perfect IMO. I don't label cars, unless it's blatant, relentless, and unforgiving rice.

Poke & stretch and 13" RS' is just being a "dubber" to me, and not something I find attractive... Infact, I do not get it one iota. So I don't look at things from a "VW" point of view. I bought the car because of what It could do, and do year round. Infact it's for sale...

This thread is full of win, and doing it right!

Got the 18mm hub centric spacers and they fit perfectly.

Here they are:

And the difference between them and the 1/2" (12.7 mm) spacers I was running:

Please ignore the bodywork atm. It's the result of poor time management.

That's as flush as it's going to get.

Great work. I love the stance and the headlights are a nice touch as well. Keep it up.

I picked up a drivers side fender for $60. :)

I want to say things are going smoother on the drivers side but I'm not going to jinx it. It is coming along though.

I was able to get the fender section riveted/epoxied on today and get the kitty hair fiberglass coat on. I skipped the welding since the riveting was more solid this time. Still have a ton to do but I got a chunk of it done today.. I actually took a vacation day to do this since time is at a premium.

I got a little further with the drivers side light. I just worked on the lower portion of the fender where it meets the bumper and the section of bumper that is under the light.

Here's how I added rigidity to packing on so much bondo-glass. I did this on the other side and there are no cracks.
Image

Then glass, sand, repeat:
Image

Image

Using the bottom E39 light trim as a reference:
Image

Image

And why I stopped.. no more daylight.
Image

From here the areas I worked on today can get finished up with bondo. I still have a little more work to do above the headlight.

That looks INSANE! I have never liked the look of the 92-95 lights. IMO, the 96-99 looked nicer because of the back cut reflector in the housing as opposed to the in the lense. My hat goes off to you sir, for coming up with this idea. The first time I saw the thread, (I started with the last page) I couldn't figure out what you did. I especially like how you blended the bumper line into the corner of the light, very slick, like Andrew said, probaly the nicest part. I have always liked your ride. I disagree with you on it looking out of place with the "higher class" cars you road tripped with. The 18's really set the stance off. I am partial to 18's on black Bonnevilles. I look forward to seeing pics when you get her re-painted.

I was working on the hood and hit the metal I welded in. I had to grind it all down and re-do the curve of the hood:

I took a piece of paper and a pencil and shadowed the curve of the passenger side bumper I made. I cut that curve out and matched the drivers side. It might look a little rough there but it's just the way the rattle can primer sprayed there.

Thanks Don. Me either.

I'm just going to pick it apart a bit more so nothing bothers me after it's painted.
