Spot on. There might be a little teensy tiny amount of fade in the decklid, but...

Also, the spoiler came with allen head cap screws. He gave me an actual hex head bolt. The reason why, is as those cap screws get exposed to "the elements" trying to loosen a rusty allen head cap screw down the road my be problematic.

Good call on the allen bolts. They're like a little cup for salt water to reside in.

It's in, err, on... I tried with the hex head bolts just test threading them before I installed it and despite being a 6mm pitch like the allen heads, they just didn't want to thread. So since the threading on the spoiler isn't an impregnated nut, it's just threaded in to the fiberglass, I said to heck with it. I didn't want to create a bigger issue.

Looks like it's always been there! , Interesting that they threaded right into the glass, I'd have expected an insert of some kind. But I reckon it wasn't designed to come on & off, just install and done.

Oh, wait! They're Aussie bolts...don't the threads swirl the other way down there? Can't replace 'em with 'Merican bolts.

*dang* reverse threading. :dontknow:

I said that to Mike (the body shop guy) when I brought his alignment tools back. He gave me those hex head bolts and I ended up not using them because when I tried threading them before installing it, they didn't want to thread. Being that there is no fixed nut inside, I didn't want to strip the fiberglass. Also, I only snugged them good. Nothing more for the same exact reason.

Yeah, you don't want to go Hercules on fiberglass threads. Hopefully they'll withstand whatever vibration/pressure the spoiler will encounter over time.

I hear ya. And it's not necessarily the act of stripping something that is feared, it's the immense arse (and often wallet) pain that follows in removing/repairing the strippage.

So...

Took the kids to school the other morning. Waiting in the drop-off line, I smell an faint oil burning smell. Get to the other house and pull out this...

Image

What is that you ask? I'd be delighted to tell you... That is what is left of my A/C belt. Sadly it was a new belt too (last August).

Rewind about two weeks prior, I was under the hood for other reasons, and noted the belt half off. So I quickly put it back on. Checked on it numerous times... No issues.

Now that the belt was off, I could clearly see that the tensioner is shot. It barely moves, so yea it wasn't keeping anything on the belt.

Here's the bigger "f-ing" problem though and why you're wondering why there was an oil burning smell... A portion of that mess got wedged between the harmonic balance and the front engine cover (you LS guys know what I am talking about). Enough so that it messed up my front main seal. So now it's pissing oil.

With that said, I should have all the parts to do it this weekend, but I am now seriously thinking about killing another bird (besides fixing the seal)... I.E. get rid of DOD.

I actually considered that part of bird #2, because you can't use the OEM cam with DOD. Which means I would have to upgrade anyway.
