So I finalized the purchase of an '02 Regal GS on Saturday. Drove to Scranton to pick her up, been driving her since I got her. Needs a few things: brake lines, possible steering rack, the chrome on the inside of the wheels is rotting, rear rotors and pads need to be replaced, could use some better plugs and wires, maybe a few coil packs and could definitely go for some new tires.
Other than that, this thing is immaculate. Definitely loaded when it first came out, only has 68k and very little rust. Has sunroof, 8-way stereo, all leather interior (interior is in amazing shape btw), SC/oil/MPG gauge on dash, auto-dimming/heated mirrors, etc.

Also, I 'shopped my wheels from the Bonnie onto the Regal to gauge how it looks. I'm undecided on whether I actually want to do it. Any input?

Nice find! These Regal's are great cars when they're in good shape. I wish I could've gotten mine when it had less miles on it.

The chrome wheels that come on these are a sad story. They look great but the chrome peels off on the rim of the wheel resulting in leaks.
The Bonneville wheels would look better if the gold mesh was black to match the car.

Think so? The Bonnie wheels are in great shape so I could just powder-coat them or dip them.

I like the gold but agree black would be nice too. Keep the polished lip.

^^^^
Lip is definitely not getting painted. I don't like the idea of an all-out black wheel, but will definitely humor the idea of the web being black.

Not really big into the whole black rim movement but on some cars it looks good. In your case, black webbing with a polished lip would REALLY set your car off. It'd look way sporty too!!

Very nice looking Buick. Wheels? I think they both look very good. It's just a matter of personal taste, but I agree peeling chrome is a definite turn-off. - BC

Looks sweet. I'm all for the black laces with a polished lip.

Pro-tip: to any one considering plasti-dipping the webbed alloy wheels from a 90's Bonneville.. don't... freaking.. do it..

I spent at least an hour scrubbing every little crevice so that it was clean and spotless.. Literally was in pain. Then, it took about half an hour spraying it on so that it was consistent which took two cans and there was still a lot that I didn't get to. I scrapped it and spent the last 2 hours scrubbing and peeling to get it off..

You say you took it off? I've found that the more dip you apply the easier it is to take off since it's more likely to come off in one piece.

I kind of figured that would be the case but didn't wanna risk it getting any worse. I'm throwing the web's on today and might leave them the color they are if I like the gold and black combo. But yeah, the spots that had a thicker layer than others that didn't was easier.

Gentlemen, I have a question for you: should the '02 Regal have the gold webbed rims from the '94 Bonneville or do you think the gold+black looks trashy? I need an answer quick :o

I had gold laces on my old Bonneville and I hated it. I ended up painting the webbing black and I liked the look. I'd go with black webbing. FWIW I did the webbing on the 96 GTP body color.

Harro - those both look great! That's a good looking wheel option.

Bumzag - That's the thing about plasti-dip. You've REALLY got to layer it. LOTS of light coats and it turns out well. It's a PITA especially with all of those little holes but the finished product could look cool. I saw a video on youtube about a similar wheel and it's a LONG process.

Yeah, not worth it as it's turned out. I put the webs on and left them gold, but got a lot of heat from people >.> so I'm throwing the chromes back on and looking for some 5-spokes, maybe GXP rims

I wonder how bent 5's would look on there.

There's a guy near me with an '03 4 door Grand Prix with the bent 5's on it. I bet on a black GS they'd be just right!
