Scratch that...... your-other-rides-pics-and-videos/topic41287.html

Didn't like the pickup as much as I thought I would (very squirrelly in the snow with no weight in the back) and I missed the leather seats. So I traded up....

It's a year newer and much bigger!

Without further adieu....

I like it! Could use some cleaning, but what in Wisconsin isn't covered in salt this time of year. If I had money I'd have bought the Silvy. ;)

Why, so you could have a matching truck for your cars? :P

The leather is in decent shape for the mileage but it is extremely dirty inside. Believe it or not I washed the truck an hour prior to those pictures. That's how crap our weather is.

It's supposed to be tan leather and it's more brown now....

Use a Mr clean magic eraser on the seats. It works wonders.

But yes, matching fleet would have been cool. But I've been wanting a truck for a long time.

Last set of seats I used lexol and a toothbrush. OMG! And that was a Bonneville. Took prolly 8 hours and they were still only half as clean as they should.

Now I have 3 rows : (

That's a lot of miles. 6.0 or 8.1?

those wheels look so out of place. So does the two tone.

Yukon's are such nice trucks.

Yeah it's the 3/4 Ton, 8 lug. I know where te correct wheels went. On his old body style pickup because the tires were almost brand new.

6.0, 4L80E, 4x4, 3.73 posi. Guy said he bought it with 28k. Had it for 10 years. Now it's at 260k. He said engine/Trans were all original. Just regular fluid changes.

Was reading a lot of people bashing the 6.0 but that thing has plenty of power even in the 3/4 ton.

Only thing I noticed, (which I did read about before buying) she likes to be revved. Seems most of its power is 2,000+ RPMs. Whereas our old 350 hardly ever had to go over 2,000 in normal driving.

May look into finding a set of the OEM rims when it comes time for new tires or maybe something else....(not many 8 lug options though)

Congrats - those Yukons are nice rigs! Needs a good cleaning, but looks like it should clean up decently. Those wheels look really out of place though! Even a set of stock 3/4 ton GM truck wheels from the same body style would look more normal. You'll have to let me know the mileage difference vs. your Silverado....I'll be buying a new truck this spring/summer, so I'm curious to know.

Not bad! Leather definitely needs a bunch of TLC. Magic Eraser using Lexol as lubricant will work wonders.

As far as the 6.0, yeah, they're a different motor to drive, like to rev. The 4L80E saps quite a bit of torque, and almost feels like it holds the motor back. A tune helps quite a bit of that.

No wheels?! This has the same bolt pattern as Dodge and all the other GM HD trucks. There are tons of wheels available for them. http://bit.ly/KPl74x ;)

I was saying for OEM rims there are really only 2 styles that fit on this truck, are there not? The ones that are supposed to be on there (chrome) and the steelies that are on there now? I never really did like aftermarket rims, like to keep my cars stockish.

Edit: I guess there are also the NBS (00-06) 8 lug steelies too. I read somewhere that the 07+ rims needs spacers?

I'll tell ya though, even with all the miles it has it runs great and the transmission has yet to skip a beat. Wot runs are probably not the best but hey I'm cleaning the carbon out of her

It's been such a good ride, I've already put 300 miles on it in the last 2 days.

That motor will never kill the 4L80E. Only thing you could do is try to pull something too big and overheat it.

Not too many OEM wheels, but the 07+ had a couple more options. Not sure if they need spacers, I couldn't see why they would, they're the same chassis underneath. 2011+ won't work, they changed to a metric bolt pattern.

Was kinda curious about that as the Denali/Escalade got the 6.0 with a 4L60E. Doubt I'll worry about pulling anything too big. Even with the 3.73s it's still rate at 8,800lb tow capacity. The 4.10s would bump that to 10,100lbs.

I'll have to look into the wheels some more I do like some of the newer body style 07+ wheels.

They got the 4L60E-HD, which was kind of a joke...

The 6.0L is a cast iron blocked LS motor.

Now you know why it makes it's power where it does and doesn't hold a grudge against revving like previous gen SBC's did.

Well and I've got a 2000 so not only is it cast iron block, but it also got the Cast iron heads. It is pretty fun to drive when you get on it though. I'll be curious as to what this tank of gas tells me....

I don't think any of the 6.0's in the 2500-up trucks got aluminum heads, but I could be wrong...

I know the 4.8/5.3 did so I figured the 6.0 did too? I don't know.

First tank of gas............12.33 MPG. 80% of that was back roads and highway. There may have been a few WOT runs. Thinking some plugs and engine clean up may be in order. Its also go a really bad wheel bearing. Timken should be here tomorrow so we'll see if that makes any difference.

Had a CAI on the silverado when I got it got. Are they worth the money? $150-$300 or should I try to fab up something instead?

IMHO they're worth the money. The spectre kits are nice, I just don't trust their filters. Get one of them, then a nice dry-flow filter from AEM or someone.

Ok. I'll add a CAI to the todo list then. Well I just got done with this:

Image

Image

Only to find that what I thought was a bad wheel bearing was not. The one I pulled off was a Timken, same as what I put on. Old one was easier to turn than the new one but there was nothing wrong with it. So now trying to figure out what this noise is:

Image

12-15 seconds is the engine. It's kind of a crappy video but it sounds like a bad wheel bearings, but obviously its not. Under 30 barely noticeable. Noise increases with speed at around 70-72 you start getting a pretty bad vibration. Around 80 front end vibrates real bad, almost a shake. Also, on deceleration it get loudest around 50 then seems to quiet down once under 30 again, still not silent though.

Brakes are near new all the way around, front end looks good and is tight.

So that leads me to believe its a tire issue.

What do you guys think of these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251416396877?it ... m=&vxp=mtr

It would cost around $1,000 just to buy those tires and have them mounted. So essentially the rims are free. Although you don't get any warranty, i.e piece of mind.

And just for fun:

Image

Moves pretty good for such a big truck. Sounds like I need some exhaust though......wanna hear that engine. Maybe if I do that, it'll drown out the tire noise and I won't have to worry about tires for a while?

Those steelies were just about bald and UGLY! So I picked up these:

Image

Image

Not my top choice but I can live with them for the price. BF goodrich tires, 2 new and 2 70% tread. Came off '06 Ram 2500. Dodge caps will stay for a while till I can get a proper set of GMC center caps. Had old crappy Chevy ones on there with the steelies.

Noise/vibration WAS NOT solved by the new tires. :banghead:

Can't figure out what could be causing my issue?
