I still vote for a low boost, 4.2L stroker. Keep it "not super wild" with the mods, more manageable. This is were cubes come into play, cause we all know "There's no replacement for displacement".

With all that torque and 3.29 gears it better have a class 3 hitch...

I wish my 95 U Body Trans Sport had all the tricks and toys that the later W variant could use... Finding upgraded parts for my Van has been tuff.. Its too bad when they thought that van up the largest FWD platform they had was the A Body... If they had used the H platform I think it would have been better handling, with quite a few more mods to be had along with a lower stance..

But, I have done small things to the suspension... Getting much more than a 225 60 R16 on my van is tuff... I had 235's on it but hated the wheel spacers and body to tire rub... Van was meant for a 205 70 R15...

I have had a hard time finding a larger front sway bar, all of the vans had a 26mm front bar, However in my research I found that Addco has a 29mm heat treated front bar for a buick/pontiac A body.. I know 3mm doesn't seem like much but with newer technology and 3mm more for thickness I know this will make for a more rigid sway bar.. The current front bar has energy suspension bar to lower control arm bushings... I already added an addco 1" rear sway bar, Poly busing at all points for the bar..

The rear rides on Cargo Coils( stiffer than stock ), same ride height as stock... Monroe Max Air shocks as the van has Level Ride... The front is about to wear Monroe reflex struts and AC Delco variable rate springs( stiffer than stock ).. Oddly enough all of the U bodies produced used a Tight Ratio Rack, I believe its 2.7 turns lock to lock as opposed to the FE1 3.1 lock to lock iirc... So all of the 90-96 U bodies had a sport rack from the word go...

The Brakes on it are a GM parts bin assortment as well... I have always been shocked at how well it can stop, good clamps for a basic Mommy van... But I have always used the HD Pads and the like, I hate fade...

The exhaust for me has been a tuff one, nothing really fits it.. I need to at the very least be 2.5" from front to back, or I could do 3" to the converter and drop to 2.5 at that point..

This van for the longest has been such an ongoing venture and just when I start to hate it, I start to love it again...lol

I would have been far better off had I started with a 97-02 Montana, would have been a far more ideal situation..


If you do this and Mod that van I would look forward to seeing that...lol

I actually planned on doing Bonneville GXP 18's, and possibly some brake kit. I hadn't even thought about the suspension yet. Hadn't even thought of a hitch on it either. Really don't need it though as the former oil burner has one.

Anyway, nothing has been said. Admittedly, I didn't get home from work until almost 11 last night, so everyone was asleep, then I was out before everyone this morning.

Looks like it wasn't meant to be. They want the tax deduction so I think they're going to donate it. When I looked up it's values over the weekend, a running version, in rough condition (as theirs is), was average worth $1,700. Someone needing to at least fix the stock engine is going to have to pay about that to fix it alone. So I pretty much told her it's worth nothing.
