Don't know what you guys are talking about -I'm driving a 01 2500 quad cab 4x4 with a 5.9L and just tonight I drove 40 miles down I94 @ 73mph and averaged 27.6 mpg according to the overhead info center.

Coming through a 60 mph zone with cruise set at 60 on level road (hardly any wind) and the instant readout was showing 34-35 mpg.

Chrysler overhead MPG displays are notriously inaccurate. The owners manual I believe even tells you they are lol.

My 03 Cummins before the programmer was about 5-7 MPG off on the high side. Programmer brought it to about 2-3 MPG high. I made it from Alex to New Hope/Crystal area with the DTE display saying I had 64 miles left lol.

It also depends on the rear gear too, and the tire size, and the tire weight, etc. Bone stock (which very few are nowadays) the mileage was decent. Once modding starts, the truck will let you know

That's screaming for a grille block or removable front airdam. Keeping the air away from all the aerodynamically ugly bits under the truck will help out quite a bit. A removable airdam would be the best bang for the buck.

The best way of getting better MPG is drive slower on the interstate, and coast up to stoplights, etc. Basically don't hoon it and drive like a sane person.

Learn from the mistakes of others, that way when you mess up you can do so in new and interesting ways.

My boss used to have an 03 1500 Quad Cab with the 5.9, and from St Cloud to Albany one night we averaged 12.5 at 70...

I echo what the others have said - that truck is in stunning condition for its age. White shows up every blemish, but that truck has none.
