U-haul's powerplant is a 4.8L Vortec (model year is 2000) It did ok in the mountains pulling the car. Never had any issues with engine temps, indicated 210 the entire trip.

Anywho... SNOW!!!

And I got here about 4:00pm. Dad insisted I transfer the car & dolly to his pickup for the trip up the hill. Sometimes it's better not to argue. Pulled into the parking lot of the local tavern and waited. Gee, I guess I have to clean that salt off now before packing it away.

Yeah, clean all that off before storing it. Else your Camaro will be a rusty mess very shortly. Ask how I know that one...

Back in Florida. Dad and I took turns driving the rental (2010 Buick Lucerne with a 3.9L V6). Drove OK, not sure I would cough up 31k for one...actually, pretty sure I wouldn't.

Anywho. Camaro is in hibernation for a while. Time to clean up the garage and start working on the Ford.

Just curious... How did you like the 3.9( 3900 ) over the 3.8( 3800 )?

None of the Chevy 60* V6's have seemed really torquey to me... Seemed like they were always lacking in the low end..

It was OK, nothing special that I noticed. I hammered the throttle on a few entrance ramps to the interstate and it did ok without sounding like it was going to come unglued. Car handled reasonably well, even on the twisty roads from the house down to Morgantown (took the back roads instead of the interstate yesterday morning.)

Just kind of wondered... as I have been driving the 95 Bonneville a lot more, I have become used to the low end grunt... Its funny to see it shift into Overdrive going up an incline and twisting 1250 Rpms and just groan and pick up speed... The Newer 60* V6's seem all to quick to unlock the TCC...

I should go drive one...lol.... was a DOD by chance?

Don, the cars really suck gas doing that. It's almost better for FE to hammer it and get the gaining speed done quickly. It's like 11 mpg vs. 14-15, lol.

It is supposed to have VVT, but not DOD. It runs well enough (20K miles on it). I didn't even recognize it as being part of the 60degree V6 family when I was looking at it. I had to look for the emissions tag on the underside of the hood to know what it was.
