Similar restrictions in PA. They expected it to be limited in it's use. The faq sheet describes "occasional use" as one day per week. I think I can live with that. The car hasn't been a daily driver in the past 13 years. I'd be happy just to be able to drive it at all.

It's looking great, Curt! I appreciate the time you take to make this an adventure we can all follow.

Another night. Just a few hours this evening. Transmission is installed. Based on how hard it is to connect a 700R4 in one of these cars, connecting the T5 was pretty easy. Got the transmission under the car and up on a motorcycle jack. Lifted it up till the input shaft about lined up. Plugged it in and wiggled it till the dowel pins in the block went into the bellhousing. Piece of cake. Came in with a punch and marked the underside of the transmission tunnel for the shifter. I'm glad I didn't pre-cut the hole based on the measurements, I would have been in the wrong place. This way, I only need to remove enough to clear the rectangular shifter housing.

Another few hours on the car tonight. Cut out the transmission tunnel (moto-tool and a cut-off wheel...several of them, followed by grinding stones to debur the edges.) Finished raising the transmission and bolting up the cross-member. Finished up by putting the inner shifter boot in place and pop riveting it in place.

That looks pretty good... Maybe I missed it... Is that a dry clutch or a wet clutch?

You mean hydraulic vs. mechanical actuated clutch Don?? I don't think Curt would use a "Wet" clutch setup, lol.

Yep, it's a hydraulic clutch. Stock 3rd gen T-5 setup. It bolted right up to the LT1 with no issues. Yesterday I finally got the torque arm installed and the rear wheels are back on the ground. Finished last night with the exhaust system bolted up with no gaskets (no point, sections of the exhaust needs replaced, so the objective was to just get it tucked in for the trip.)

Today, I have to finish up the engine accessories, get the hood back on, and roll it out of the garage. Hope to finish tonight with it backed into the garage (so I can just roll it out and up onto the tow dolly when it's time to leave.)

Yep, even Carolyn has to wait till we're in PA before she gets to drive it too ;)

Did well today. Assembled the center console, got the steering hooked up, battery back in, got brakes, rolled the car out of the garage and got it tucked back in tail first (so I can roll it out and up on the dolly.) Capped the evening off by installing the hood. All that is left is to tape off the open fittings, like radiator and heater hose fittings, and she is ready to travel.

I wanted to get more of the interior done, but as I was working on it, the list just kept getting longer. As some point I just fell back on "good enough" and I'll fix the rest in two years. There's enough assembled that the rest can go in the car in boxes.

Time for laundry and start packing for the trip.

I can only hope my 3rd gen will look that good. If your feeling like completing another LT1 swap, I have an LT1 and a 700r4 waiting for you to install it :dontknow:

What are your plans for the PCM?

Well, as you see, it's not that hard. I can see the only snags are trying to keep the A/C compressor in the 4th Gen F-Body location. It would stick out into the cross-member and motor mount. Since my car already has the 1LE A/C delete airbox, I just put an idler pulley in place of the AC compressor. I've read that the Corvette accessory layout cures that problem, but don't have the brackets myself and can't comment on if it work as advertised.

PCM is a modified 1995, the last year you have both an OBD-I and a MAF system. I sent one off to Moates years ago to have it unlocked with a fake VIN number. Though I'll need to do that again to have the 4L60E functions removed. If you go with a 1993 PCM, you can set the car up with a 700R4, MAP, and OBD-I in one go. I've found several people online who can strip the ABS, 4L60E, and emissions codes out of the PCM...dumbing it down to be more like a 3rd gen's ECM.

The advantage of the 1993 setup are simplified airbox/intake setup...you can use a TPI/MPFI V6 Camaro airbox. With the later MAF setup, I've got to make an airbox and put it about where the TBI/Carb air intake goes.

Where I plan to install it will be under the dash with the harness going out the passenger side kick panel (where the stock 3rd gen ECM normally goes.) I've seen cars done with the PCM mounted in the pocket between the strut tower and blower housing. Fits, but the wiring looks messy. 3rd option is to put it inside the fender on the passenger side. There's plenty of room in there is you don't have a power antenna.

To do it under the dash, I need to lengthen the harness. I may just splurge and go with an aftermarket one.

It has it's downsides. Was made by US Body over near Ocala. In retrospect, a steel hood would have been better. Someday I might even get the cowl induction to be functional :dontknow:

I'll have to take a peek under the hood. Milage is around 10mpg even limiting the speed to 65mph or less. Truck is as aerodynamic as a brick

Looks like a 2500 van by the 8 lug wheels, so if it's a gasser it's a 6.0. It will either say the engine displacement on the radiator cover or the airbox, or both.
