Well with the prices of gas getting higher and higher, my choice of new vehicles was not the best ( 2006 Buick Rainier). All the more reason to finally get my little project out on the roads. Story behind this was it was purchased in April/May of 2006 by my ex who wanted a bike. We broke up in July. I wanted it and kept it. I decided I was going to re-build it and ride it, and so I am.

Here is what it looked like when it was purchased
Image

After one summer of rebuilding it and waiting till October for tires, I finally had the tires mounted last week, insurance is on it and I am just waiting for the proof of insurance to show up. Thursday is the day it goes to get "certified" so I can get it plates and on the road. After all that time of working on it I just can't wait to ride it.
Some of the items that were done include but are not limited to, changing both throttle cables, choke cable, clutch cable, new mirrors, mounted flush mount lights front and rear, new front sprocket, new chain, replaced the complete wiring harness, took 3 speedos to make one good one ( old plastic gets brittle), repainted new tires, new windsheild, etc... As you can tell I really went to town on this.

Anyhow here are the finished pictures.

nice rebuild! I actually like that color combo. Did you repaint, or just buy new body pieces?

I would love a little crotch rocket, but I'd have to wait until i move out. My mom would disown me if i came home with any type of motorcycle.

My parents don't like it but oh well.

I actually repainted the bike.

This was my paint booth, lol. It turned out pretty good considering where I painted and that I used spray cans that I had mixed at an auto body store to the color I wanted. The color is an orange from a 2006 Lamborghini. Base of orange, then a pearl/metallic coat, the more you put on the more pearl/metallic it gets, and then the clear.

Here they have graduated license just like for cars. So you start with an M1 so you cant' drive at night, no passengers, etc... then M2, I think the only restriction you have is to have a blood alcohol level of zero.

I've been out a couple times with it now and I love it. So far I can figure it gets about 45mpg but that is with quite a bit of playing around ( higher revs than usual). So I will see over the next couple of weeks depending if weather co-operates with me, just how good of mileage I can get with it.
