Hello!

This is Ryan, formerly known as "Bonnealien" -- It's certainly been a while, and I apologize for my long hiatus. Most of you here probably don't remember me, but I used to be a big deal around here.. haha. I was the very first COTM and had a 1996 SSEi.

To give you my update: Unfortunately, it was just traded in 3 weeks ago for the cash for clunkers program and it is going to be recycled and out of commission. I'M SORRY!!!!!!! Long story short.. The car was having some problems, and it had it's run.

I just picked up a new 2009 Malibu LT1 with the "Sun and Wheel" package and I'm enjoying it! The Malibu is nice, but it'll never compare to the Bonneville in many ways. It's a bit more hip though, so no complaints here...

I intend to stick around here for a while (and I'm pissed i lost my old user name and all my old stats), so I look forward to getting to know everyone around here again. Here's a few pics, as per usual.

Welcome Back!! Too bad to see a Bonnie go to C4C, but for you it was probably the best decision.

Wait...I could have sworn the SSEi got too good of gas mileage to be eligible for Cash for Clunkers.

From the CARS.gov website:
Quote:
Generally, trade-in vehicles must get 18 or less MPG (some very large pick-up trucks and cargo vans have different requirements).

It was my understanding that all passenger cars had to get 18 MPG or less on the new EPA Combined cycle to qualify. The SSEi gets 19.

Nice new ride! (I'm sure you remember me...formerly vital49). I see you're now in Kalamazoo - less than two hours away from me.

So, when will we see the pics with the model?

Welcome back! I remember seeing pics of your car on the old forum, but I think you left just shortly before I joined up.

I really like the new Malibu, and would not at all mind owning one in dark blue or black with chrome rims :)

hey Ryan... I remember you well. You can PM one of the admins to get your old username and stats back.

Liking the new car, but sucks you had to trade the SSEi in for CFC. I'm hoping you took the rims off at least?

I'm sure they can hook you up with at least your old post count, but by your new plates,
it looks like you may want to keep the new user name. :)

HEY!!! Welcome back! Switched from UND to Purdue I see.
Love the Malibu. Buddies ex gf had one and it was quite a nice car even though it was mid-line model.

I have to admit -when I scrolled and saw the first picture of the Malibu I expected one of the following pics of the Malibu with a cat sprawled across it.

Yeah, i'm not too happy i had to trade it in for C4C, but for my situation it was the best option economically. $3500 was far greater than the KBB value on the car with 155,000 miles, rust spots, and no heat/AC.

To be honest, those 18" rims have been sitting all polished up in my shed for the past 3 years not-used. The tread on the tires is in great shape and the rims are pretty much immaculate. If anyone wants to throw down an offer, I'm pretty much ready to sell 'em. I'd rather sell them to someone on BC than to someone on craig's list or something. I'll be extremely reasonable with pricing if anyone is interested. If you need any further pics, let me know.

BTW, The "model" in those pics is now my fiance, so let's watch those comments! haha..

Here is the very last pic of the Bonne... ahhhh!

Image

..don't look at the rust spot covered in touch up paint!! She probably is one of the nicer cars that i've seen at any dealership that was traded in. *dang* you Obama for offering me that money!

Anyways, it's great being back. Thanks for the Hello's.

too bad for the C4C. but that is a very very nice replacement!

If i ever buy a new car, i've got it narrowed down to a G8 or a new Malibu. I love the looks of the Malibu.

(oh and i sent you a PM :) )

You would, you ricer! Haha...

Those rims are actually on my younger sister's 02 Mustang Convertible and they look pretty *dang* good. The bolt pattern on those Enkei wheels was 5x114.3 rather than 5x115 so that caused a problem for the Bonneville (5x115 bolt pattern for those of you unaware). I actually snapped a few luggs before i knew there was a problem. My bad...

The mustang is 5x114.3 so they've found a safer home.

Ryan i want to thank you for posting that about the studs with the 5x114.3 on the bonnevilles... We time and time again have said that this is not a good idea as the lugs will be side loaded and can snap... This is a perfect example of what can happen..

I still like the New Malibu tho.. One of the Local members had the older 06 LTZ Malibu Maxx at one point.... That thing was fun to drive and I actually liked it... But I said I wouldn't buy an 00+ bonneville... well I have an 03...LMAO
