I'm going to be doing front brakes on the truck on Wednesday. I'm just replacing the pads and getting the rotors turned. is there anything I might need to know about taking the rotors off this truck before I get into it? I plan on doing this at work, take em apart and get the rotors to the shop at lunch and put it all together after work. I see Autozone listing on their web site that there MAY be a spindle nut that is "non reusable"... whats that about? Last I checked once you take the calipers off the rotors will just pull off the wheel studs. :helpsmilie:

Rotor should pull right off. It's not riveted to the hub, like some are.

Yup, just a standard rotor. Only the S10s use the rotor that has a built in wheelbearing; that is held on by a spindle nut.

Wait a sec...

If it's not four wheel drive, the seals, races and bearings should be in the rotor. Every other non 4x4 chevy that I've worked on has the seals, races, and bearings pressed into the rotor.

And, for what it's worth, do yourself a favor and don't bother getting the rotors turned. They're just going to warp again soon. Just put the $16 toward brand new rotors.

Stopped at Autozone to get the parts and the rotors look like every other rotor i've delt with. nothing special here. I did decide to go with new rotors too. I talked to a few mechanics around here and they all told me to not waste my time having them turned.

I am going to wait until Friday to do this though, I don't have all the tools (torx bits) to get the caliper off. I'm pretty sure its a torx, might be allen though. either way i lack the tools. gotta wait to get to my parents so i can use Dad's tools again...
